2006 Raider. Check engine light on-Key not recognized-invalid Vin ??

SKIM is IMMO
and the SKIM lamp tells you (glows wrong in the cluster)
means IMMO is not happy and engine is now dead on purpose.
door locks are not part of IMMO. the passive key is only
so forget doors. ok?
LOST The other good key i bet/??????
car came brand new with 2 working keys, per the users guide it tells that, (lost the guide it is FREE)
the guide tells you about the IMMO SKIM lamp on dash

the lock smith would tell you you ,lacking one good key now
he can not make keys, at all,. some are ignorant of that and try.
some just try to get the service fee, and fails. easy money

never just have 1 working key or LAND here you will
did you do that? (im and talking only IMMO here)
the engine Immoblizer only. goal #1 car drives.
my car , too has skim a jeep 2008
and our maker (jeep or dodge etc) like to have the silly lamp on the dash that has NO ICON or words, just a red lamp

SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM
The system will shut the engine off in two seconds if an invalid RKE transmitter is used to start the engine.
After turning the ignition switch to the ON position, the
Vehicle Security Light will turn on for three seconds for a
bulb check. If the light remains on after the bulb check, it
indicates that there is a problem with the electronics. In
addition, if the light begins to flash after the bulb check,
it indicates that someone used an invalid RKE transmitter
to start the engine. Either of these conditions will result in
the engine being shut off after two seconds.
If the Vehicle Security Light turns on during normal
vehicle operation (vehicle running for longer than 10 sec-
onds), it indicates that there is a fault in the electronics.
Should this occur, have the vehicle serviced as soon as
possible
WE SEE THAT ERROR AND STEP 2 IS SCAN THE PCM.
IF ERRORS BEYOND SIMPLE DEAD KEY
ONLY REAL SHOP CAN FIX THIS OR A DEALER
IF LOST 2ND KEY OR LOST THEM ALL OR THE ONLY KEY THAT WORKED DIED, THAT MEANS GOOSE COOKED.!! AS IN $$$$$$

You have no choice but to see a dealer for testing.

i would think that it is an immobilizer symbol letting you know of a problem with the key in use
talk with a service dealer or have the fault codes read to see if there is an immobilizer fault

P0513 stands for invalid SKIM Key. Basically it means that the "computer chip" that is in your ignition key which has a special code is not recognized by your vehcile compter (PCM). In most cases that I have come across is that either your VIN is not entered or is the incorrect VIN programmed into the PCM. Have you recently changed the PCM ? You may try another ignition key but I doubt that would work unless you are using the wrong key for the vehicle. You will need special diagnostic computer programs in order to correct this problem. Most likely your PCM will need to be "Flashed" to the VIN. This really isn't a weekend/backyard/part time mechanic fix. Hope this helps you to understand what the code is and what it means. Guessing the vehicle won't start.....

DTC P0702 - Transmission Control System Electrical
There is a code in the ****** control module and need to check harnesses and wiring, as first step.

DTC P1685 - Skim Invalid Key
Transponder ID (in ignition key) is monitored with ignition on. DTC will set if transponder ID read by Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) does not match any transponder ID's stored in SKIM memory. Possible Causes:
- Incorrect VIN In PCM
- Invalid SKIM Key Present
- No Communication With SKIM
- No VIN Programmed In The PCM
- PCM SKIM Trouble Codes Set

I would suggest clearing all these codes, and drive it until the problem arises again, or the check engine light comes on, and then check for codes again. To clear the codes you will need to remove the negative battery cable, and touch it to the positive cable, for about 15 seconds. Then re hook and all the modules will be reset. If this isnt work, visit your Trans Service.

I have no idea what they are talking about, but that is the code.

DTC P1685 is Invalid SKIM Key. The Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) is part of the security system and kills the vehicle when a wrong key is used. There may be a problem with your key or the chip reader in the ignition switch. This is something the dealer will need to determine for sure. This code will also be set if someone actually tried to steal the vehicle.


My guesswould beto reset your PCM (unhook bat. and depress brake for 1 min), then try to start the car. If that doesn't work, I guess haul it into a dealership so they can run a diagnostic

P1685 Skim Invalid Key.

The Sentry Key Immobilizer Module contains a Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver and a microprocessor. The SKIM transmits RF signals to, and receives RF signals from the Sentry Key transponder through a tuned antenna ring integral to the SKIM housing. When the ignition switch is turned to the On position, the SKIM transmits an RF signal to the transponder in the ignition key. The SKIM then waits for an RF signal response from the transponder. If the response received identifies the key as valid, the SKIM sends a valid key message to the PCM over the PCI data bus. If the response received identifies the key as invalid, or if no response is received from the key transponder, the SKIM sends an invalid key message to the PCM. The PCM will enable or disable engine operation based upon the status of the SKIM messages.
