SOURCE: 1999 olds cutlass glove box removal

you need to remove all the screws on the bottom of the glove box on the outside, then on the inside remove all the screws too. and then pull it out. sometimes some glove boxes have stoppers on the edge of the door inside and you have to pry on them to pull the stoppers in front of the side of the glove box so you can remove it entirely from the dash.

How to replace a blend door aculator in a 93 olds cs

I'm not familiar with the Cutlass HVAC system, but if it is a dual-zone where driver and passenger can set different temperatures, there will be 2 blend actuators. If they cannot be independently adjusted, there will only be one.

Why 2005 pilot gets too much cabin heat even when turned off

There is blend door in vent channels under the dash of the vehicle. It blends warm and cool air in the vents depending on the temperature setting. The Blend Door is controlled by a motor called an actuator that gets its signals from the setting on the dash. When the actuator fails the blend door can't move. If it stops on hot you always get hot air.
3 possibilitys
1. Blend Door stuck.
2. Temperature control not sending signal to actuator.
3. Actuator motor gone bad.

Of the 3 possibilities the actuator motor is the most common and the easiest to fix. The part is $40-90. I don't know exactly where actuator is on the Pilot. My GMC you remove the plastic trim below the dash and its just to the left of the glove box near the 'hump'. Perhaps the part store can tell you or someone else will offer the exact location.

Once you remove the actuator you can plug it back in to the wire clip and move the temperature knob and see if it moves. When you get the new one plug it in and make sure it turns before bolting it in.

To clarify a bit. The heater is never technically turned off. The blend door determines how much it goes thru the vents.

'92 Olds CC SC air won't blow through the vents.

Chances are you lost vac to the control or the blend door under the dash. Most models built before 1999 used engine vac to move the blend doors. You may need a shop manual to get the diagrams to trace the vac lines.

Afternnon, just wondering about the best way to locate the blend doors in the hvac box without ripping out the dash on my 2000 jeep grand cherokee. Thanks in advance. Duane

y9ou can gain access to the driver side blend door actuator by removing the glove box. The actuator will be in the left corner of the glove box opening. If you remove the actuator you will be able to turn the pin. If you can turn it 360 degrees the blend door is broke.

If your lucky its only the drivers side. If you get the repair kit from chrysler it will come with instructions with pictures on how to replace the blend door without pulling the HVAC unit/Dash. If the passenger side is broken the HVAC unit will need to be removed.

Heater treater (google them) also have a metal blend door replacement and instructions online on how to replace them without pulling the HVAC housing.

1999 Silverado - cannot get the temperature to switch from cool air to warm air when turning the knob to heat.

The temp blend door, or blend door actuator may be faulty. You can check this by watching the movement of the blend door actuator while you turn the temp selector knob. If the actuator is working, then it may be the blend door, or blend door lever broken. If these are ok then the control head may be faulty.

98 Olds LLC - AC works but fan air does not blow

If you have a late model GM car and the system is controlled electronically the blend door actuator becomes weak. When this situation occurs it will not move the air direction door inside of the heater/air conditioner plenum. in your case not to the vents Replace the actuator with new and recheck the system. i hope this helps
