  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly and intake air duct.
  4. Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator.
  5. Remove the 4 nuts retaining the cooling fan assembly. Remove the cooling fan from the fan pulley.
  6. Loosen and remove the drive belts.
  7. Remove the upper timing belt covers.
  8. Remove the fan pulley assembly.
  9. Rotate the crankshaft to align the camshaft timing marks with the pointer dots on the back covers. Verify that the pointer on the crankshaft aligns with the mark on the lower timing cover.
NOTE When the timing marks are aligned, the No. 2 piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC) compression.

WARNING Align the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets with their alignment marks before removing the timing belt. Failure to align the belt and sprocket marks may result in valve damage.
  10. Use tool No. J-8614-01, or a suitable pulley holding tool to remove the crankshaft pulley center bolt. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  11. If present, disconnect the 2 oil cooler hose bracket bolts on the timing cover. Move the oil cooler hoses and bracket off of the lower timing cover.
  12. Remove the lower timing belt cover.
  13. Remove the pusher assembly (tensioner) from below the belt tensioner pulley. The pusher rod must always face upward to prevent oil leakage. Depress the pusher rod, and insert a wire pin into the hole to keep the pusher rod retracted.
  14. Remove the timing belt.
  15. Inspect the water pump and replace it if there is any doubt about its condition.
  16. Repair any oil or coolant leaks before installing a new timing belt. If the timing belt has been contaminated with oil or coolant, or is damaged, it must be replaced.

To install:
  1. Verify that the sprocket timing marks are still aligned and that the groove and the keyway on the crankshaft timing sprocket align with the mark on the oil pump. The white pointers on the camshaft timing sprockets should align with the dots on the front plate.
  2. Install the timing belt. Use clips to secure the belt onto each sprocket until the installation is complete. Align the dotted marks on the timing belt with the timing mark opposite the groove on the crankshaft sprocket.
NOTE The arrows on the timing belt must follow the belt-s direction of rotation. The manufacturer-s trademark on the belt-s spine should be readable left-to-right when the belt is installe

What will happen if the timing chain on a 2005 mazda 3 snaps willit ruin motor

Yeap sure would but why will it snap, chains last along time I only replace a chain if it gets a bit stretched and starts to rattle and then I usually rebuild the motor, rings, bearings, valve grind, water pump and any thing else while its a part and looks like it needs a birthday, but if you just want to keep it going and compressions good and oil pressures good I have just done the chain to quiet it done and done thousands of miles with no problems every engines got its own problems to figure out. cya Neil

If your headlight motor is spinning but the headlight is not going up on your 87-92 firebird, the plastic bushings inside the motor over the years have been ground to dust. But save the $175 for a new motor and for less than $10 repair your motor.
The repair is not difficult. You need to go on Ebay and you will find several offerings for new small plastic bushings for sale, in sets of 3 or 6. You need 3 for each headlight. They usually cost about $3-6.00 plus shipping. Buy a set. Buy extra for a future repair if you want.
You need to first raise the bad headlight by spinning the knob on top of the motor. Then you remove the plastic case around the headlight. Remove the two screws on each side, and ease the plastic off and set aside. There are 4 bolts holding the headlight assembly to the car, remove those bolts, and unhook the headlight plug, unplug the headlight motor plug, and pull out the entire headlight assembly with the motor attached.
There are 3 long bolts holding the motor to the headlight bracket, remove those bolts, and also the bolt holding the motor to the arm on the back. The headlight motor is now free and separate. There are 3 or 4 small bolts holding the large black round outside case on one side of the motor. carefully remove those bolts, they are fragile, and then carefully open the motor. You have to wiggle it, but it will come off. there is a gasket, try not to damage it.
Inside the motor there is one large round white plastic gear, and probably a lot of whitish plastic powder. This is the remains of the 3 round plastic pieces that fell apart over time, the reason your headlight motor spins but the headlight does not go up. Carefully pull off and out the large round white gear, and then clean out all the plastic shavings from inside the motor case. When everything is clean, you need to reinsert the large gear with the 3 new bushings in the 3 locations in the gear, carefully replace the black cover and the bolts, and then in reverse order reassemble everything back on the car.
After you have done this repair once, it is very easy the 2nd time. I have probably repaired 30-40 motors over the past 10 years this way, and the repair is good for many years. I have repaired and keep as spares 4-8 extra motors that I acquired "Broken" for free or a few dollars, and fixed this way. Whenever I buy another firebird with bad headlight motors I just pull the bad motors and replace them with the spares, and then repair the bad ones when I have time.

Air blend door actuator

there is an order. (check fuses first, all the time, every time)
1: engine attains 180F temp or more and holds there. all the time hot.
2: the water valve is open fully and actually flows hot water to the core.
the dash temp, lever is a cable to valve, does valve move from min to max, via lever>?
3: blower works, at least on high.
4: then doors, most these cars have blend door motors. and the tests are unique to maker and year, model. the FSM covers this 100%

this system varies by, A/T or M/T tranny, coupe or sedan
and CLIMATE CONTROL options.
the climate control system is complex with 3 motors.
3 damper control motors,
1: Recirc
2: fresh air.
3:MODE (my guess this fails)

to see it , go to and read HVAC section , fresh air delivery systems.

better is THE FSM, as it shows how to test these motors.
step by step.

Need help with a tune up and need a picture of where fuel filter and spark plug go I talk to someone from napa and they said that I can get a picture of my motor.

the fuel filter is under the car on the driver`s side along the floor board ahead of the fuel tank.the spark plugs are in the cylinder don`t say what motor is in this car,4 cylinder motors the plugs are always at the front of the motor looking at the motor standing in front of the car,6 cylinder motors there are 3 plugs along the front of the motor and 3 plugs at the back of the motor standing in the same place as I mentioned just have to follow the spark plug wires to the plugs and change them one at a time so you don`t mix up the firing order

How do I get the window up the motor is shot, I have done all I know how to 2002 F150

Had a problem with the motor not working. Pulled the motor from the door, and hit it against the tire a few times, plugged it in, and it worked for about another 3 months. Next time it only worked for ~ 3 weeks, so it go replaced.

You will need to remove the door panel, and where the dimples are at on the metal door panel, you need to drill them out with a hole saw. I used a 3/4" hole saw. This gives you access to the bolts ( actually sheet metal screws with hex heads ) to remove the motor.

When you unbolt the motor from the mount, reach in through the speaker opening, and grab the motor and turn anti-clock wise ( when looking from the outside ). Unplug the pigtail for the power to the motor.

You should also test the pigtail connector to make sure you are getting power to the motor prior to doing all this, but I am suspecting you do have power, and the issue is the carbon build up in the motor.

I need some information on replacing a windshield wiper motor on a 1997 Yukon, specifically disconnecting the old motor. Can it be disconnected from under the hood or do I have to get at it from the top?

Most time they c an be changed under the hood.

You should have 2-3 connectors on the motor, then the motor is held in by 3 bolts...they are usually 10mm bolt heads.

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at

1995 Cutlass Ciera : Can check list to repairing power windows

the motor window is worn out which is common. You will have to remove all screws on door panel and then pry panel off. You will then have access to the motor. It may have soldered wires on it. Others can pull off, or you can cut wires up stream and twist back together later with new motor
