Oil filter caused check engine light?

Most of the newer vehicles have a senser that will turn the check engine light on, even when it's time to change the oil. After they change it, they reset the check engine light to turn it off. It could be something as simple as that or even an air filter needing to be changed. The dealer can tell you how to reset that light to turn it off. Good luck!

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

There is no check engine light fuse. There is a PCM fuse (the engine computer that turns on the check engine light), probably in the power distribution box by the battery, or in the fuse panel under dash.
When you turn key to ON, the check engine light should be on as a test that the computer is powered and ready to work. If you have no check light, the check engine light bulb may be burned out, or the fuse for the computer may be blown, or the computer or wiring is not functioning properly.

There are plenty reasons for the check engine to come, from fuel system malfunction to timing belt sensor, you need to get the car somehow to a garage and perform a diagnostics test, that will tell you what is wrong.

Hello. The check engine light comes on when the vehicle's computer has detected a problem with one of the components in one of the systems. To find out what exactly that check engine light means you have to hook the vehicle up to a computer scanner. Many auto parts stores now offer this scan for free, as do the AAMCO repair shops. After the scan is finished, the scanner will turn out the check engine light. Some vehicles check engine light also turns off if the battery is disconnected for two full minutes. Regards, Joe
