2006 gmc canyon, 5 cyl
check engine light is on. Advanced says OBDII shows codes for Large Evap leak and random misfire in cylinders.
i have replaced the fuel cap.
i went off and is back on again.
Observed the passlock (anti-theft) light on at random times while driving. light stays on continuous; -not flashing. However, truck continues to run with no hesitation, etc.
when trying to crank at random times, Passlock light blinking at start-up. Engine does not crank. sounds like it is not getting fuel or is not firing up all the way.
What do i need to do? dont have a lot of money...Is my problem the passlock system is screwing up everything?
i can typically wait for 10 minutes and the engine will crank. if not, i wait another 10 minutes and it then cranks. now i am having to wait for 3 seesions of this (i.e. 30 minutes) before it cranks. this is what the owner manual states to do with a Passlock problem.
Could the Passlock be causing all of this? could it cause a code to read for random misfire? could a Large evap leak be causing it not to crank? what is the likelihood of a damaged evap cannister on a 06 truck? i dont know exactly where everything is located in this new age mechanically beast like i used to on my older cars.
Please, i could use some advise and some good recommendations with directions if possible.
many thanks, many times.

It sounds to me like that you have several different issues with you vech and on the pass lock system will not cause all the problems listed how ever it will cause the no crank and after five min or 30 min start it is most likely the pass lock sensor unless your truck has a pk3 system (the key will have a + or pk3 stamped on it)If it is a pk3 system then it may be the theft detturent module if ton a pk3 system then most likely a pass lock sensor . Take the vech to some one that can ck for codes and find out all the codes set in the vech. This will tell a whole lot about what is going on with the vech .Im not very good on drivabilty problems. The evap leak and the mis fire will not be related to the pass lock problem.
