Your best bet ! Take it to a quaified repair shop . Do you know what Class 2 data bus is ?

Class 2 Serial Data Line
The class 2 serial data line on this vehicle is a star configuration. The following modules communicate on the class 2 serial data line:
• Audio Amplifier, w/UQ7 and Y91
• Body Control Module (BCM)
• CD Changer (CDX), w/U1S and Y91
• Digital Radio Receiver (DRR), w/U2K or U2L

I have a 2003 bonniville sle i have a code U1040. Where is the EMCM AND PCM LOCATED

U1040
DTC U1001-U1254 IPC, PCM, SDM

Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM)

The control module ID number list below provides a method for determining which module is not communicating. A module with a class 2 serial data circuit malfunction or which loses power during the current ignition cycle will have a Loss of Communication DTC set by other modules that depend on information from that failed module. The modules that can communicate will set a DTC indicating the module that cannot communicate. When no message is detected from a learned identification number for 5 seconds, a DTC U1??? where ??? is equal to the 3-digit identification number is set.

How do I replace the computer chip that controls the gauges and sensors on my Buick Lacrosse?

What computer chip ? Your vehicle has up ten computers on the vehicle . PCM - engine control module , BCM - body control module , SRS - air bag control module , EBCM - electronic brake control module , The instrument cluster has a microprocessor inside , the heater / A/C control panel is a control module .All the control modules on your vehicle are connected on a serial data communication network .
There are 2 different communication networks on this vehicle: The class 2 network and the GMLAN network. The class 2 serial data circuit is the low speed link, and the GMLAN serial data circuit is the high speed link. Modules that need real time communications are attached to the high speed network. The engine control module (ECM) is the gateway between the networks. The purpose of the gateway is to transfer information from one network to another.
When one of these modules is changed it needs to be programmed , unfortunately the dealer is the only place to have it done at. A GM factory scan tool is needed to do the job ! If it's not done correctly the whole vehicle network will lock up, making the vehicle inoperable .
Class 2 Serial Data Link
The class 2 serial data link allows the following modules to communicate and share data with each other:
?€¢
Body control module (BCM)

?€¢
Digital radio receiver

?€¢
Electronic brake control module (EBCM)

?€¢
Engine Control Module (ECM) (LY7)

?€¢
Instrument panel cluster (IPC)

?€¢
HVAC module

?€¢
Powertrain control module (PCM) (L26)

?€¢
Radio

?€¢
Inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM)

?€¢
Vehicle control interface module (VCIM)

The GMLAN serial data communications circuit used on this vehicle is in a linear topology. The following modules are connected to the link, in order from DLC to the end of the linear configuration:
The following modules communicate on the GMLAN serial data circuit:
?€¢
The transmission control module (TCM), (LY7) 3.6-L

?€¢
The engine control module (ECM), (LY7) 3.6-L

I very strongly suggest you don't try to fix this problem !

I have a 2001 town car with a suspension problem. I just replaced the air bags. A month later the pump started to run too much. I tried soapy water but found no leaks.Yesterday the back end droped and the...

Having it hooked up to a factory scan tool would be your best bet . Check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . Without testing ,code scan ,we'd only be guessing .
Very complex , the untrained person hasn't got a pray of fixing this . You have no idea what your dealing with . Vehicle Dynamic Suspension The vehicle dynamic suspension consists of the following components:
  • Rear air suspension control (RAS) module (5A919)
  • Snorkel
  • Drier
  • Air compressor (5319)
  • Air suspension switch (5K761)
  • Solenoid valve (5311)
  • Air spring (5560)
  • Air suspension height sensor (5359)
  • Air line
  • Rear Air Suspension Control Module
A microprocessor controls the air suspension system. The microprocessor and its supporting hardware are contained in the rear air suspension control module. The rear air suspension control module responds to signals from various sensors in the vehicle to maintain the programmed ride height while the vehicle is either moving or stopped. The rear air suspension control module accomplishes this by opening and closing solenoid valves to control the amount of air in the air spring(s). The rear air suspension control module turns on the compressor by applying voltage through the compressor relay to inflate the air spring(s) and raise the vehicle. The rear air suspension control module opens the vent solenoid to lower the vehicle by releasing air from the air spring(s) in response to signal inputs from the air suspension height sensor(s).
