How to replace motor mounts on 1991 buick century 3.3 v6

How you I replace the motor mounts on the 3.3L V6? I'm not talking about the dog bone on the radiator. The ones that are under the engine. So if you know how to replace them I will greatly appreciate it!

If you have the proper tools you will need to support the engine with a jack, undo the mount nuts and bolts remove them then remove the mount. you can use the jack to move the motor up or down depending on what needs to be done.

there is one below the harmonic balancer, one on front side of motor were it bolts to the transmission by the rad, one at the rear of the motor by the transmission and the sub frame and i think one that is the support mount for the transmission on the drivers side of the transmission that you can see through the wheel well. its been a while since i`ve done one.

The support (dogbone) on the motor mount is cracked

This usually happens when the motor mount near the firewall goes bad, this will allow the motor to move more causing the dog bone to crack, both of these mounts should be replaced.

Went to try to change plug wires on 93 Buick Century with the v6 (3.3) looks as though you have to remove that "top motor" mount, is this correct?? If so a quick run through of how this is...

OK on the V6 on GMs from the 1990s the general rule is, remove the top 'doggy bone' engine mount, use a piece of 2"x4" or larger wood between the jack and the transaxle or other solid part of the engine/transaxle combination, and jack up the engine slightly until you can reach the spark plugs and wires in question.

I learned that trick from Sears in the 1990s when these vehicles were newer.

Good luck on this repair.

How do you access the 3 rear spark plugs and wires on a 1999 buick century ?

remove the front engine mount that is at the top of the engine attached to the top of the radiator support. it looks like a dog bone. after removal, rock the engine forward or use ratchet typoe tie down strap to move the engine forward to access the rear plugs and wires.

Think my flywheel is sticking. i got my transmission rebuilt & engine replace in a 1991 buick regal & now my car vibrates when its coming to a red light or taking off.

It could be the harmonic balance is warped or the rubber has slid or deteriorated. Also one of your motor mounts or (dog bones) could be bad. If one of the mounts are bad it will cause the car to vibrate. Have someone to get in the car and put the car in drive with the brakes pressed and press the gas pedal a small amount. If you see the engine move on one side or the other, the mount is bad on the side that raises up. Do the same process with the car in reverse. These may have been damaged when the trans was taken out, some people loosen the mounts, take them off and some don't ever touch them to remove a transmission. This is what I would check first.

What is the dog bone

It's an engine mount. Usually it will be one at top/front engine and one onside /bottom engine. They are easily replaced, just be sure to take the weight off the mounts with a jack.

1987 Buick Century, V6, 2.8L will not start. No

the 3 coils are mounted to the ignition module and as long as the sensors that signal the module to fire the coils individually are working I would try a module especially if all 3 coils are not firing..also if you have an ohmmeter for checking electrical resistance, the spec for the coils are 5000 to7000 ohms, measured between each coil from tower to tower (ie) #1and#4 2+5 and 3+6 any more than that and the coils are toasted..lol hope this helps also check the spark plug wires at each end maximum resistance is no more than 1000 ohms per inch,,,good luck

Trying to reach my back plugs on a 2001 buick lesabre

The technical term for those "dog bones" are lateral torque struts. The motor mounts hold and support the power train vertically.
Hope this helps, let me know.
