There are no Ford V-8 Engines that have timing belts. The engine will have a timing chain.
Thanks for ur answer on that 99 Eddie B. Ford Expid. Now if the timing belt needed to be replaced would the motor crank and stay on? I did look at the vehicle last nite and it cranked and turned over but it had a rattling sound coming out of the motor area where I believe the timig belt is located , From My exp. And thats my opinion if the timing chain or belt was out or needed replacing the motor would not crank and stay on ? If you would please answer ? S as it would be a Blessing to the female owner of the Vehicle I m giving a helping hand to of course I am donating my services to her free of charge due to her being a single parent and financial budget. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT ANSWERS TO FI C IN THE PROBLEM WILL BE MINIMAL FOR HER SAKE AND MINE AS WELL . THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN , HAVE A BLESSED DAY
From what I read on these 4.6L engines, they have a history of issues with the timing chain guides and tensioners wearing out. This will cause noise from the timing chain. IF the chain gets too loose it could jump time and become a n-start condition. If the vehicle has 150K or more on it, I would recommend replacing the timing chain, gears, guides and tensioners.
Here is what I read in one place....."2002 EB timing chain sounded liek marbles in a can and if you didn't know better sounded like a rod was about to go.......truck drove and ran just fine otherwise. Busted timing chain guide. Pieces were being thrown around inside the timing cover. Amazingly despite the considerable slack in the old chains they never jumped a tooth on the cam or crank. As a mechanic some days I feel lazy and not motivated until I called a local shop and they told me $1500. Suddenly I felt like getting off my can and doing it myself Found a kit on ebay for $180 with new guides, tensioners, and cam/crank gears. Job wasn't too bad. "

the heater bypass is quite simple, if you look at the firewall you will see two medium sized coolant lines, remove them from the firewall and link them together using a proper sized tube, you can purchase a kit at a parts store quite cheaply
SOURCE: location of air conditioner low pressure valve
The low pressure valve on the 01 expedition is located on the accumulator on the passenger side fire wall. The accumulator is underneath the battery relay and a grouping of wires. Had to squeeze hand underneath a heater hose and an a/c line to remove cap and hook up hose. Nothing has to be removed to locate the valve just a little touchy feely. Valve faces a 45 forward toward the engine.

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.
SOURCE: How do you change a flywheel on a 1998 Ford
You will need to remove the transmission and (transfer case )if equipped to gain access to the flywheel. Once the tranny is out of the way you will be looking at the flywheel. If it is an automatic you will need to remove the torque converter bolts from the flywheel before tranny removal. Also if it is an automatic be sure to get the torque converter to engage the front pump in the tranny when you reinstall.
