How do I get my key out of the ignition of my 2007 chrysler 300?

I recently replaced the broken shifter latch pink thingy and after I finally got the car to shift smoothly, the key wouldn't come out. I have driven the car around and when I got home it simply wouldn't come out.

It is the pink park lock out devise. Try here: http://www.custombilletstore.com/product_p/1028.htm

You can purchase the fix and do it yoruself to save cash. Dealer will charge you over $100 to replace the whole area with more cheap plastic.

SOURCE: WONT SHIFT IN TO PARK

Sounds like the shift cable is coming apart inside. You will need to disconnect it at both ends and make sure it slides easily. if not, change it. If you are good with mechanical things and have a bit of patience it's not too hard. If not let a shop do it.

SOURCE: Chrysler 300 won't shift out of park

I had the same problem with my 05. I couldn't shift out of park. So, I checked brake pedal sensor, and wire linkage and they were fine. I took the center console apart and pulled out the shifter assembly and sure enough the problem was at the assembly. There is a plastic piece. that hooks to a small spring that snapped. I ened up renforcing it with a small clamp hose, and ever since its been functioning fine. I imagine I saved my over $500 bucks of repair cost and also wouldn't be surprize for others to have the same problem.

2006 chrysler 300 wont shift back into park

The shift interlock device is broken in the shifter. If you can take the bezel off around the shifter you will see it. It is a pink plastic piece that allows you to shift in or out of park. They ALWAYS break on these cars. The dealer will replace your whole shifter. But you can just replace the pink interlock device.

My 2007chrysler is stuck in park

Its the 'pink' thing. On the front of the shifter, there is a small cable that allows a pink cam to move, and unlock your shifter. It has broken. This pink cam keeps you from shifting unless your key is turned on. Replace it. If you need to get going, you will need a10 mm socket and driver. Use a small screwdriver, pop the shift bezel off, unsnap the chrome cover, remove the shifter by the 4 each 10mm screws, remove the pink cam, re-assemble, and go. Replace the cam with a new one when you can. Good luck! Mark. Should take a few minutes to perform.

HAVE CHRYSLER 300 THAT WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK, DROVE ALL DAY PARKED AT OFFICE FOR 1 HR, WITH BRAKE ON WILL ALLOW SHIFTER TP MOVE TO RIGHT, BUT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUT IT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE

Its the 'pink' thing. Remove the shifter knob, use a small screwdriver to pop off shifter bezel, un snap shifter cover, 4 clips, two on passenger side, two on driver side, remove 4 each 10 mm nuts holding shifter to the car. O.K. in the front of the shifter, is a pink cam, that prevents the shifter from moving, if the car is not on. It has broken. The small cable on your left controls it. Remove it. (disables it) Reassembel, and get the hell out of there!. Mark, 209-613-0092. Took me 15 min.

My 2007 chrysler pacifica wont shift out of park.

SHIFTER LOCKED IN PLACE

  1. Remove the instrument panel cover below the steering column, then remove the steering column shrouds to gain access to the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) solenoid. The solenoid is part of the interlock cable assembly.
  2. Disconnect the wire connector from the rear of the BTSI solenoid.
  3. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position.
  4. With the brakes applied, try moving the shifter out of the PARK position.
    • If the lever now moves freely in and out of PARK, perform the Circuit Test below.
    • If the shift lever still does not move from the PARK position, remove the BTSI solenoid from the shift lever assembly. If the shift lever now moves freely in and out of the park position, the BTSI solenoid is faulty and the interlock cable must be replaced. If the shift lever still does not move from the park position, the problem is in the shift lever assembly or the ignition interlock cassette

My 2007 Chrysler 300 starts fine but will not shift into any gear

I just finished repairing my 2007 - 300 for the same issue. Pulled in the garage.. went to go out , and could not get the shifter out of park. Researched this issue online.. First step is to remove the right side plastic holder next to the shifter. There is a small hole that has a pink plastic piece. Push this in while moving the shift lever out of park. If the shift lever does not move, then the other "pink thingy" piece that is located inside the shifter box has most likely broken. There is a tiny spring that attachs to this pink piece ( probably a $0.50 piece of poorly engineered product ) that breaks off. See the following link on how to fix this problem. I drilled a small hole in the pink plastic piece where the small hook broke off.. then attached a cotter pin through the hole , and fastened the spring to that... should not have any further problems.. this link demonstrates how to remove the shifter box. The entire process took me roughly 2 hrs to complete... saved myself hundreds of repair dollars!!http://www.300cforums.com/forums/tech-tips-review/61876-tech-tip-review-park-lock-out-mechanism-installation.html

Chrysler 300c '06 can't get it out of park

This is a very common problem on the Chrysler LX Platform vehicles from 2005 - 2007. It's a broken Park Lock-Out Mechanism made from cheap plastic. Chrysler will only replace the whole shifter because they don't make just the part you need and it will cost you some bucks if you are out of warranty.

There is a way to over-ride the Lockout and you can purchase just the replacement piece from the only company that makes them in 100% aluminum billet.....BilletTechnology.com. Go to 300cforums.com or lxf.com and search for "pink thingy" or park lock-out mechanism. Tons of information as well as DIY threads with pictures and even YouTube demos.
