Battery Flat. Re-charged without disconnecting battery. Starts and drives OK except ABS warning light on + Traction Control warning message.

Maybe these things will sort themselves out after a bit of driving?

Batteries that are on the way out will give false malfunction signals. Replace your battery before doing anything else.

Testimonial: "Maybe the battery is on the way out BUT I don't think so. I think the battery went flat over just a couple of weeks because somehow I had left some electrical item on. I have only had the car for 4 months and have left the car a few times for a month and the battery never gave a hint of a problem. It was the first time it was in my quite small garage. I did not lock the car and maybe I left a door slightly open or something, anyway, the battery was as dead, deader in fact, than the Dodo. A big test will come this week-end (2 weeks after the problem.) Will it start or not? If not maybe you're right about the battery but I am expecting it to start as usual - fingers crossed!!"

SOURCE: Traction Warning Light & ABS light on.

one of your wheel sensors are bad. if you go to napa they will let you use a code reader for free and that will tell you which wheel it is and you can replace that sensor. they are kinda expensive @ around 100 bucks a piece.

SOURCE: traction control and abs lights on

Your best to get the system "code read". Withhout seeing the carits impossible to say, it could be anything. Sensor failure, wiring fault etc. Make friends with a good Mechanic.

Clearing/resetting ABS and Traction Control system warning lights - 2006 Buick Terraza

As long as your car's brakes work and is safe to drive, take it to any parts store. They have error code readers that can reset these alarms. If they are not able to reset them then you will probably have to take your car to a brake shop for maintenance on your ABS sensors. Traction control is associated with the ABS sensors.

I just had new tie rods and ball joints put on my 2002 lincoln continental and as I was leaving the shop i noticed the abs and traction control warning lights were on. I went back in and asked the tech and...

This may be possible but the procedures performed may not generate this condition.

The traction control compares wheel turns on all 4 wheels. The power should not be on when the Ignition is off. The sensors on the front wheels could be unplugged when reworking the Ball joints. Since the rear wheels are not turning, the Ignition is off, there would be no spinning wheels to compare revolutions and no power to do it.

The ABS is similar for the same reasons. The system should be off when the Ignition is off on the hoist. Now the Battery should have been disconnected to insure no false warnings were created when parts of the system were unplugged. This would have eliminated the radio presets and sometimes other settings like Garage door openers, seat settings, etc.

Some of the warnings will disappear after 35 Start-ups. You can get free scans from Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys. Just make sure they have a Scanner which can read the Traction control, or ABS modules. Not all scanners perform these additional functions.

Really, the shop should have "completed" the repair by returning your vehicle to you without glowing warning lights. If the shop released your vehicle with defects in the ABS or Traction Control, it is something they should have checked out to protect themselves from Liability.

2006 mustang gt abs light and traction control light come on

First, the battery replacement indicates you have a short. Either something draining the battery, or a bad alternator. This explains the light problem too. Get the alternator and battery tested at a auto-parts store. All the rest will fall in place.

Merc e class 1996... ets warning light constantly on , but no problem with abs.. any ideas

This is just a traction control light.....If one wheel out spins the other it will make it come on at times ..You need a scan tool but you can disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 seconds and the light will go off......If it comes on again you will have to change wheel speed sensor...This is common with all vehicles with Traction control and ABS...Have it checked for saftey reasons...
But it happens with a lot of them.........Sensor replacement is normally what you have to do.
Sometimes battery disconnect works....You will have to reset clock.
Hope this helps..........................Metalpoet

ABS malfunction warning light on Airbag malfunction warning message Battery not charging Message No power steering battery totally flat

This time of year alot of batteries fail because of the cold but a bad battery will not turn on the charging light. This usually only occurs when the alternator isnt charging. When the battery drains enough its possible thats why you have these other issues.
Codes only set when the computer does not see the correct voltages

Brake sensor? something else?

You have a faulty wheel speed sensor. This is a magnetic pick up sensor on your wheel bearing hub and it controls your abs. If the car can not sense all 4 wheels then the abs will default back to normal brakes and your traction control will not work. Look at your wheel bearing hubs and check for these sensors. They are on the underside of the car and are black plastic with a wire comming out of it. A piece of gravel may have broken the pick up or the wires to a sensor may be broken as well. To replace it is usually a couple of screws on the hub assembly and a plug to disconnect from your wire harness.
