What is the code you have? It can be very important in finding a solution to your problem and also making sure you dont have other issues. This particular Vehicle has whats called a "PCM" or Powertrain Control Module, it is a combination of your engine computer and transmission computer in the same unit. I will attach an image for you to see where it is located. Finally, These PCM's are NOTORIOUS for going bad. We have done literally thousands at my shop many of which have your same symptoms.. Some not as bad and some worse. If you can get me the code(s) i will be more then happy to run them and help you find your issue. Please advise
There are a lot of newer model engines and tranny combos that will fit like the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2 liter engines with the 4L60E,4L70E and 4L80E transmission packages just be aware that the larger the engine the more the cost
Google the code & read up (OBD PO710) if that is it I hope you know when you get codes, that they do not mean you need to replace a part Codes only point to the system with the out of range fault You need diagnostic manuals to diagnose & component test,no parts get replaced until they fail a test.
Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. First step is to see what codes are in your computer and if they are transmission codes.
