Very simple. Put the car on ramps. Remove the the fittings on both ends along with any clamps and remove the hose. Caution, these fittings can be very tight. You may need a flare nut wrench or self tightening wrench to get them loose. Be very careful not to cross thread fittings when installing. The hoses go from the pump to the rack and pinion unit under the car.

Power steering pump replacement 2002 pontiac montana

Remove the drive belt, remove the 3 mounting bolts by using a socket ththrough the holes in the drive pulley. Remove the upper intake to give you room, slide off the rubber return hose, remove the pressure line and lift out the pump. Just reverse the process to instill the new pump. And fill with the proper fluid.

Where is the power steering located

Follow the two hoses from the bottom of your steering column (steering gear) to the steering pump. This comprises your power steering system.

Leak in the power steering system

There's not a lot you can do for this other than replace the hoses. Try tightening down the hoses. Also, inspect them for cracks. If the hoses are tight and there ar no cracks I would suggest going to the auto parts store and purchasing some power steering stop leak. It sometimes works and will save you having to fill it up all the time. Not a permanent fix, but might get you by for a while.
