(step 1 ) the torque specs for the heads are---1998 through 2001 are 37 foot lbs. ( step 2) rotate an additional 90-degrees (1/4 turn). intake manifold bolts ( lower ) step 1-- 62 in-lbs, step 2--115 in-lbs. intake manifold bolts/studs ( upper ) 18 ft-lbs. this is for the 3.1 v-6, have a good day!
99 chevy malibu v6 3.1 engine, head bolt torque is-- 98 through 2001 is step1- 37 foot lbs, step 2- rotate an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn). the rocker arm bolts are 168-in. lbs.
It'll be easier if you jack up the front of the car, but there are only 2 options for Chevy drain pans (depending on the engine you have). It is either smack bang in the middle of the engine block at the center (will be a small bolt head seemingly sticking out of nowhere on the drain pan wall, the bolt head will be facing the back of the car).
Or the other arrangement will have the bolt head near the front passenger wheel in line with the axel (it is pointing out towards the side of the car, horizontally). Look for an aluminum oil pan with the bolt head sticking through it.
