SOURCE: Can't get the starter out of a 1991 Nissan pickup.

The second bolt is hidden way up and tucked in near the solenoid. You need to setup a ratchet with extensions/socket (14mm) combination that is just a little longer than the starter motor. If you just can't picture where the bolt is, then go down to the parts store and look at/purchase the replacement starter to see how it mounts up.
There are two bolts for the starter mount and one nut for the main starter power lead. There is one plug for the starter key switch.
Disconnect plug. Loosen lower bolt. Remover upper bolt. Remove lower bolt. Twist starter so you can remove main power cable nut (be sure to have disconnected the battery first!) Pull starter.

SOURCE: Low Coolant Light

Why is it low? Leaking? The dumbest thing they sell is a 50/50 mix of antifreeze. You are getting 50% water and 50% coolant. Just buy a 100% antifreeze jug add it first and top it off with water. If the water is not low you may hve a bad coolant level sensor. It snaps into the radiator tank and is easy to replace when cold.

SOURCE: overheating.

sounds like you may have to change the thermostat.
and then you will need to get a can of carbcleaner the spray kind.
and spray the throttle body at the throttle plate for the surging.

make sure the belt your checking drives the water pump.
there may be more than one belt and the water pump belt may be missing.
oil in the coolant isnt good.
thats a sign of a head gasket leaking.
let me know if you need more help

Nissan Maxima. Can a water pump or thermostat cause mixing oil and water?

Question edited for clarity.

No to both. The water pump is chain driven and takes water from one side and pumps it out under pressure from the other. The thermostat is fully enclosed in a housing with no access to oil.

Oil in Coolant only comes from a failed head gasket where the oil and water channels are in close proximity and under combustion pressure of hundreds of pounds.

Water pumps are designed to pump water through the engine, radiator, and heating system. Water pumps will not cause oil to enter the cooling system.Oct 4, 2016

I have a 1991 Nissan pickup and it trys to turn over but wont and it has pushed a dirty oily something thru the air filter what cld been the problem

it is possible that your timing belt has slipped and is now pushing the cylinder oil film and air/fuel mix back through the valves. With the close tolerances of cylinder vales it is also possible that you have bent valve stems preventing them from moving freely.

Do a compression check on your engine before dismantling it to see if there are unseen internal issues.

1991 toyota pickup, overheating problem, there is water that I know getting into the oil. I just bought a new head and gasket plus the timing cover gasket as well. ran it today and still blowing water in...

Coolant or water in the oil can be from a head gasket leak, but it can also be an intake manifold gasket or a crack in the block or head etc. I would begin by removing the spark-plugs and then pressurizing the cooling system and checking each cylinder for signs of coolant entering them. If the cylinders stay dry and coolant goes into the oil during the test you most likely have an intake gasket that's leaking. Don't run thee engine with coolant in the oil or you'll have catastrophic damage!

Coolant level in resevoir keeps going down over 500 km of driving in 1990 v 6 four runner , truck runs perfect idels at 1000 rpm and thermostat just goes to half way

the only reason for your coolant to go down is that you have a small leak somewhere. check the oil dipstick and see if you have any antifreeze mix with oil, it will have a different color and feel.

White coloured engine oil, overheating

White oil means water or coolant is leaking in via Head Gasket Failure or a crack in the head. Along with repair - be sure to have each cylinder compression tested to see if there is a crack that has developed. Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.
