I hope you had enough Antifreeze in the system. It sounds like the water is frozen in the water pump.

SOURCE: battery keeps draining new battery and alternaltor

Sounds like an alternator. When it goes bad, your car is forced to run off of the battery , which wont last long depending on what all you have running .
The alternator keeps your battery charged after your car starts.
Try replacing the alternator and let me know if you have any more problems.

the gas has turned bad shudda put a stabilizer in it-always drain tank and fuel system when storing--the throttl area may hav effected and a pro cleaning mite hav to be done--ethanol gas makes it worse-try to use pure gasoline-is more xpensiv but worthit

Have a load test done on the battery to check for dead cell as what you describe fits that problem profile. New is a relative term as either brand new or new to you (second hand)

I have a 1998 Ford WIndstar. It died on us the other day. we put a refurbished alternator in it, changed the clamps that attach to the top of the battery, when the battery is in OUR van and is charged, it...

I suspect you hav a defective alternator. Remans are famous for this. Take it back where youbought it and have them put it on their testor to make sure it works.

A battery should read about 12 1/2 volts when charged, engine off. It should read about 14 1/2 volts with the engine running, if the alternator is working. Try that first.

report back resuts.

please rate, thanks

You have a "park" interlock that could be failing.
Please Place the gear selector in "N" and see what happens.

Then, Connections at starter selenoid, failing battery terminal (or bad connector). A battery could have a broken plate inside that will not feed power to the starter - sometimes.

Check battery voltage.. If 12.5 or better - ok
Have a helper start the engine while you monitor the battery voltage - if, while in the start position, the voltage drops below 10 volts, replace the battery.

If the battey voltage holds at better than 12 volts, then You try to identify a bad positive cable connection between the battery and the starter as follows":
* Have your helper place the key in the start positition and HOLD IT THERE until the engine turns over.
*If, while in the start positition, engine does not turn over, then you should check for connections at the battery terminal---starter selenoid---selenoid output---starter connection. Again, all with the key in the start position.

If you wiggle/poke/prod a crank out of the starter - then you have identified the problem...
