Might be wheel bearing if its a constant whine. check your brakes also the pads could be wearing thin.

Loud banging noise right front wheel. shimmies ,can't drive over 25mph

I agree with the axle CV joint choice.
Could also be a brake or wheel bearing failure, but the CV joint is the most likely given the symptoms.

Roaring sound in the front when driving.

could be a front wheel bearing. as your driving turn wheel left and then right and see if the noise gets worse , usually the noise will get worse on the oppisite wheel of which you are turning eg: turn left and you the noise louder it should be right wheel bearing. Check tires first to see if there is any choppieness to them, this also can create a noise

I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix with a vibration noise coming from the front end. The noise gets louder the faster you drive and is present even when you push in on the clutch and put it in neutral. If the driver jerks the wheel to the right when driving the noise stops for a second. The noise keep up at the same pitch if you **** the wheel to Left. If you think it's a wheel bearing, which side would you guess?
