Could be a faulty switch or wiring from the switch to the control unit. the car is designed by default to switch the lights on all the time if there is a fault (it better to have them on all the time then not at all) . I would say its worth trying a switch first.

VW Touran TDI. It won't start. I don't know the problem? Please help, thank you.

Question edited into written English.
Question moved to category.

It could be many things. Does the engine turn over, but doesn't fire? A flat battery is the obvious one. There is help and videos in the link.

Hello. just had timing belt and water pump replaced in my vw touran 1.9 tdi. car fine. came back after short stop from shop emmision control lamp came on though car running fine.

May be unrelated, but could well be a vacuum hose was damaged or knocked loose. Check for loose gas cap too. Use a lenght of hose one end in your ear, other to poke around in engine bay to listen for vacuum leak. CAUTION don't stick hose in fan or other moving parts!

My vw touran loses power for short periods

Runs good most of the time? Doesit matter how full the gas tank is? If the power is low how long doesit stay low? a second or two. or even less? when the power comes back on is it as good as ever? Are you talking about driving power or electrical power? the electrical power is made by the altenator and the pulley has a clutch that can go bad and the charge comes and goes. a good shop can change just the clutch. A bad battery can make the altenator clutch out so it doesn't fail charging a battery that won't charge. get the battery tested. Most auto prts stores can test the battery in the car for no charge. Engine power can be check engine light related, Is the check engine light on? Exhaust pipe bent closed or stopped up? oil change up to date? The oil can break down and sludge, when it does the engine starves for oil and partly seizzes. Low oil level can do it too. VW's are bad about sludging the oil does it more if the oil is'nt changed often enough.
