2000 cadillac eldorado has a spoiler on the trunk with a strip of brake lights in it. Only part of the brake lights work now. Is this something that can be fixed by owner or better off taken to shop

They are sometimes located in the glove box on the left side or in a console.

Pull up the carpet and pad in the trunk to see if there is an access cover. If not then you'll have to drop the tank.

I'm assuming there is a sensor attached to the emergency brake pedal. Try driving the car with those sensor wires shorted together.

Do you have power in and out of the brake light switch ?
And in and out of the turn signal switch ?

Do you mean the trunk mounted LED brake light strip?

This is removable, you have to open your trunk and on the inner side of trunk lid (behind light strips) you will find all the fixings that hold the body coloured trim panel in place, this needs to be removed to remove LED light strip.

if the car has a power trunk release you can jump the switch using a piece of wire to just about any power source in the car such as a light or even to the batt.

did you chrck in the trunk? caddy is famous for puttin fuse boxes in the trunk...i think yours is on the drivers side

If it is a l.e.d set up then yes it is true.

can you still open it through the key? does the pull down motor not work at all? if the pull down still works it sounds like the popper has just gone weak/bad . they need to be replaced after so long. seeing as you should have a keyfob and a button in the car. im assuming that means its the solenoid switch for the trunk release which is a 30 dollar part.
