I bought a 1999 jetta volkswagon for my 15 year old son turning 16 next month. The previous owners put a used engine (2000) with 63,000 miles. the car itself has 180,000. I have no problems ******* from 3, 4 and 5 up or down. Only having hard time getting into 2nd gear to 1st gear wether i am drivning or sitting still. I don't feel the transmission slipping. A friend seems to think when the previous owner family mechanic put the engine in that the 1st and 2nd gear may not be lined up. Please help

When you install an engine, you don't "line up" gears. It's likely that either you have a worn shift fork or synchro (both inside the transmission).

Just bought a 2004 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited 85000 miles, think the seller has rolled back the mileages, checked the compression all across equal 120psi. Please advise. Thanks

dealers work out average usage at so many miles a month to check if the speedo has been tampered with
a 12 year old car would have 149129 miles on the clock so to be generous 100000 miles or if used as a sales car 200000 miles is the ball park figure
the figure of 85000 miles equals 7000 a year well be,ow the 12000 the average car owner would put on the clock
the compression pressure should be about 40 psi higher to be a good motor
not much you can do about the speedo without proof but if it runs well and is in good condition, save your money until it starts to fade and put in a fully reconditioned exchange engine

1999 tahoe speedometer is off 15 mph

Looks like you changed width of tire and not profile. Should/would not have made 15mph difference anyway. If you purchased vehicle new, I would suspect the road speed sensor needs to be tested. If you did not buy it new, previous owner probably had a set of large profile tires on it and changed the speedo gear/pickup assembly at the transmission.

1999 volkswagon jetta vr6 check engine light on scanner says random miss fire on number 1 cly. and others. i changed plug wires and spark plugs no change. previous owner changed ciol pack i put old one...

The system's wiring needs to be checked for power. It could be that the driver for the systems injectors or coils may have an issue. What makes this a big problem is that the driver's are contained in the engine's ECU which is the main brain for the engine. Would you like a authentic shop manual for your library? Let me know.

Want to know the code for my radio. It seems to be in safe mode. I just bought the car and there is no owners manual. It's a 2006 Volkswagon Jetta 2.5L engine

You will have to go to the dealer to get the code. While you are at it get the instructions for putting the code in and don't lose them. Everytime you unhook the battery you will have to put the code back in. Hope this helps.

1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 L. V6 Engine runs beautifully but after 16-20 miles highway driving engine stalls as if flooded, or as if fuel is cut-off. After sitting for a few minutes, will start and run...

the owner probably rerouted the fuel line because like my 92 chrysler lebaron v6 3.0 the fuel lines keep seeming to come off and the clamps always break. I have replaced the clamps 5 times in a month and replaced filters 2 times in 2 months. The only thing i could think of is that your fuel is being cut off possibly because there is no filter to clean all the junk out. Try putting a fuel filter on and see if that will work
