It is winter and they only suppose to come on above eng temp of 200 degrees they should NOT run all the time or WILL cause eng NOT to reach operating temp and will cause poor fuel mileage and other problems ,to check fans turn A/C on see fans come on if the do then check for bad temp sensor check make sure cooland levels are good and no air in the system

My cooling fan wont turn on and engin stays at normal temp. how do i know im getting a correct reading i did have to replace the radiator replaced

electric fans only run when it needs to. There should be a Thermal switch on the radiator. Short that switch to Ground and fans should run. Turn On AC and one fan should run.

Radiator fan and condenser fan wont run

There are relays for both fans under the hood. There is also a fuse box under the hood, and a fuse box under the steering wheel to the right side. The fans are controlled by a temperature switch located on the radiator as well. Check all of these items. The box with the realys says "fan relays" on the cover. THe main fuse box under the hood is also labeled. Everything is labled as to what it is. If fuses and relays are okay, check that temp switch. if the fans do not realize that the car is hot, then they will never turn on.

Fans wont turn on and engine gets hot and looses coolant

well first of all, check the fuse and relay for the coolant fans. if ok! to check the fans itself to see if they are ok. disconnect the fans from its wire connector, then run a wire from positive on battery to positive on fan connection. then negative from battery to negative on the fan connection. if the fans are ok, they will turn on. try by changing the temp sensor on thermostat housing, that sensor signals the fans to turn on and off. and make sure coolant level is ok. check the coolant level first.

99 chevy Cooling fans wont come on Chevy Malibu ??? Can i wire them hot to come on ?

Yes, you could wire them to run anytime the ignition is on, but that is not a good idea. Have you checked the fuse? Have you checked to see if the fans actually work? Turn the A/C on and one fan should run continuously. Have you replaced the thermal relay for the cooling fan? You need to just find out why they do not work. Running them continuously is not a good idea. You want the engine to reach full operating temperature as soon as possible. And you do not want to be constantly cooling it down by running the fans all the time. This will cause poor fuel mileage.

COOLING FAN WONT RUN ,ENGINE GETS HOT

check wiring ,connections, and fuses ,relays -if good -test fan motors and check fans for damage or jamming -if good -test coolant sensor the usual problem is a bad fan motor but sometimes the sensor can go bad

Help with why coolent fans wont come on

Theres a relay (3) and fuses that power up the relays. The computer turns the relays on and if the computer tries and can't it'll turn the cheak engine light on. a technition with a scanner can conmand the fans on. Theres two fans and the motoors can burn out. Some stores sell the whole assembly and others will sell replacement motors. Finding the ground wire and make sure it's a ground and the power wire add power with a jumper wire and see if the motors will run with power added. With the fan relay removed and the key on there should be two pins hot and two pins ground if the fans are comanded on. With the coolant temperture senser unpllugged the fans should be on. Where the relay plugs in one of the wires goes cold with the key off the other stays hot all the time. across from the one that stays on all the time is the wire to the fan, jump power to it and the fans should run. if they do but not good or it draws alot of power from your jumper then the motors are likly bad the one the runns good then just change the bad ole and put in a new fuse. the motrs are left and right as you sit in the drivers seat

Car is overheating, Fans wont turn on

First are you sure the fans are good. Unplug the fans and hook directly to the battery and see if they turn. One fan is for the engine and should come on when the car gets hot. The other generally comes on when the a/c system is on. If both fans work hooked directly to the battery they are good go to the cooling fan switch or temperature switch (same thing different name) and make sure it is good. This tells the fan to kick on when the car gets hot. The other one kicks on when a switch on the a/c system tells it to kick on. Check and make sure you are getting power to the fans. Get a test light and ground it to a good ground on the car and probe the plugins going to the fans and insure there is power coming to them when the car is running. If no power fuse is bad or the sending unit is bad.

Cooling fans not turning on. Fuses good. Relays good.

The fan will only come on when the water temp. reaches about 80 digrees with the new water pump the temp. is staying low and the fan is not needed. Drive it a while checking the temp. guage if it over heats and the fan doesnt com on then you have a problem if not all is o.k.

Coolig fans dont run

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
