I just replace the timing chain on my 2000 L series Saturn. But when I stopped the car there is vibration that can be felt in steering wheel. What is causing the vibration?

Timing chain was replaced due to guide breaking off. Mechanic replaced the chain and guide. When stopping at light or sign you can feel vibration in the steering wheel you can also see the passenger seat vibrate. You cannot feel the vibration when the heater and defroster is on.

SOURCE: Vibration in Steering Column at Idle

Engine vibration is the cause of this issue, it is the biggest complaint from many owners, changing the engine mounts will help, as mounts age the rubber gets hard and they don't absorb vibration like they should, new mounts help issue, but it will no stop it altogether. A faulty MAF will not cause vibration, just a hesitation on acceleration at times

They have 2 white retainers on the back of the corner trim panel. They usually just pop off, gently pry from the top & it should come off.Sometime the retainers pull off the trim.If this happens just slide them back in before you re-install. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 2006 Saturn steering wheel vibrates/shakes when coming to a stop.

your brake rotors need to be turned down. you need to check the brake pads while your at it. if they are thin. change them and pack the bearings while there out. and change the inter greace seals. then your good for another 50 - 70 000 miles. also ask them to pull the rear drums and check for wear. they call it free inspection. this is sometimes caused from water splashing on hot rotors, makes the brake pedal to pulsate...

good luck & good day

SOURCE: Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.

SOURCE: Should I replace the timing chain on my Saturn SL2

at the dealer we rec them at 100k,,,,even if its not noisy or anything,it is a constant wear and tear item and the chain is no bigger or stronger than a bicycke chain,,,,they stretch and can break, and if the tensioner breaks or releases tension, its as bad as the chain breaking, either way the pistons will hit the valves and bend the valves,,,,also the timing chain guides are plastic and wear out,i would rec doing it,,,,but do the guides (2) front and rear and the chain, the tensioner, and lower crank sprocket and cam gears,,,,,if the car is in good shape and youre gonna keep it do it,,,if not,,,risk it and let it go,it may never break,,,but i would do it

2000 saturn ls time chain replacement

What exactly do you need to know about replacing the timing chain? Also you should note that the L200 (4 cyl) has a timing chain. The L300 (V-6) has a timing belt.

Another thing to note is that both of these are interference engines. If your timing chain (or belt) has failed and the engine will not start, the valves are likely bent and you may have damaged the pistons as well.

Front end vibration

on both my Camrys, i had this problem. You could really notice it when you were driving down the road going 40-60 mph and punch the gas - car would vibrate, let off the gas - vibration stops, punch the gas - car vibrates...... On both, it was the CV joints. It is much easier to just replace the drive axles (with the new cv joints and boots already installed). For my last replacement, i think thy were only around $65 each.
