Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

SOURCE: Truck has trouble starting- runs fine after start

I found the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail was leaking fuel into the intake manifold via the vacuum hose. Was hard to start and rough idle. Pull vacuum line and see if fuel is coming out-if so like me-replace it. About 50.00 at Murrays. Also the two inner cylinders on the passenger side-opposite of the vacuum line will be very rich fouled-replace them all

SOURCE: my truck will not start.

I have had similar problems and had to replace the fuel pressure regulator. It's a major expense because it sets below the diaphram in the intake manifold. Ask your mechanic about it, it may be the issue. I would get about 30,000 miles between replacement, I've replace it 3 times since purchasing the 2000 chevy blazer new, first one was under warranty.

SOURCE: dont know whether its the fuel pump or something else

How did you determine its not the fuel pump?It could be the fuel filter but I dont think so.Your truck requires a certain amount of fuel pressure to start and a different amount to run properly. You would have to check what your fuel pressure is to say its not the pump.It should be something like 65 psi to start and 55psi to run.Even though you can hear the pump come on when turn the key it might not be putting out enough pressure to start the truck.I realize im a little late with this post but it might helpfull to others.

1997 avalon wont start fuel pump when key is turned to "on" position and hencar wont start. Also, the car wont start when the fuel pump is hard wired to stay on. Any ideas

There are still many possibilities. The internal combustion engine is a complex mechanism. The timing could be off. All spark plugs must be firing. They must fire at exactly top dead center. The timing chain/belt must be in good working order, not worn or stretched. The cam shaft must not be worn out so the valves open and close correctly. the valve lifters must be working properly. the cylinder heads must have the same correct compression. A different compression indicates bad valves or head gasket. Piston rings must not be worn out or they will not provide adequate compression. the oil pump must circulate the oil to lubricate everything, and provide fluid for hydraulic lifters. Oil and filters must be clean and the correct type for engine and climate.

96 chevy k1500 5.7 runs good starts hard, turn it over and it wont start if i bump the starter a couple of times it will start then run good and will start no problem if it does not sit for a long period...

The problem on your vehicle is much more likely to be the oil pressure sending unit ore the fuel pump relay . The way the systems works is the fuel pump is supplyed by the fuse box fuse #9 but the cirrcuit splits and goes to the oil pressure sending unit in case the relay fails when your drivering the fuel pump will still have a power supply its stupid but its a safty thing that was mandated. If the fuel relay is NG the vehicle will still start but it takes the engine some time to build up enough oil pressure to trip the switch inside the sending unit to send volatge to the starter . Witch means slow starts long cranking times I would check the fuel filter first but realsticly if you don't know if the fuel pump has been replaced or you haven't done it your self this is vary likely the cause of the problem . If you have then try the oil pressure unit

My car engine is cranking but its not starting, the battery is ok and the starter.I also checked the fuel pump its working fine. What could be the problem sir? Please help

check for spark. use an inductive timing light on a plug wire while your trying to start the car and see if you have spark. if you do the next place to check is the fuel system. it it getting to the cylinders. just because the fuel pump works doesnt mean it is pumping fuel to the motor esp if fuel injected which requires a pretty high pressure of fuel delivery compared to mechanical fuel pumps. get back with me after you have checked these two items if it still wont fire or run. good luck. remember dont open up the fuel system and have any exposed fuel while trying to start the motor. very high risk of fire or explosion with this combination.

Did you try to replace the starter cable? is the Truck turning over or just clicking.? If it's turning over and not starting. Best guess would be one of two things. Knock sensors Located under intake manifold. they get wet and deteriorate or the fuel pump. I've replaced all three on mine. 233k still running strong...
