If the fuel injector for that cylinder is bad, then you wouldn't get fuel to it. But another thing that can stop it from getting fuel is if it isn't getting any spark, your on board computer could shut off that fuel injector to keep it from fueling a dead cylinder. So the easy thing to check first is for spark. Also check the spark plug. if you are not getting a spark you should fix that first before continuing on to the fuel injector. If you are getting spark, then check the spark plug. If your spark plug is OK, then the problem would be the fuel injector.
Now if it turns out that the spark was causing the computer to turn off the fuel injector, restoring the spark will make the computer resume turning on the fuel injector. So there you have it. Check for spark, then the spark plug, then the fuel injector.
Hope you get it going!

Either has a bad injector or the wiring to that particular injector has been pinched or skinned and grounded somewhere.

If the brakes work but you have to push very hard, try checking the vacuum supply to the brake booster with the engine running.

1998 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder will not start when cold, I put gas on the air cleaner and it starts. What is wrong

This is a problem caused by a defective fuel pressure check valve at the outlet of the electric fuel pump inside the gas tank. When this valve fails it allows gas to drain back to the tank from the filter and fuel lines, this creates a lean fuel condition and that can cause hard starting. There are reasons but this is the most common one.

Can i add an extra gas tank to my 1998 Ford Ranger. (xltl, 4.0 6 cylinder.)If so where can one be purchased.

The only way I can think of to add a tank is to add a fuel cell in the bed. Or have one custom made to go underneath. If you add a fuel cell in the bed, you can just use it to fill your other tank when its low with an electric valve. Hooking the tank to a tank switch would be a lot of work since the fuel pump is in the tank.

Name of toll to release the fuel filter lines?

ford has several different sizes for full size, not sure about rangers though. They are called fuel line tools though. Did you blow air through the connecters to remove all dirt? How about removing the metal clips that are there as a saftey measure? Those clips looke like a weird J shape that helps prevent accidental disconection.
