My car stars up but only goes about two miles and then it dies

sometimes when your battery goes so does the alternator,did you notice if your lights started to dim,m check th battey sounds dead.

Not sure, but it sounds like a ground wire is loose.

My first suspicion would be bad fuel from the station. Now way you could have put diesel in by mistake?

does it turn over really fast? could you have lost your timing belt? how many miles on the car? do you have any other info? did it die while driving?

If the ignition turns on and dies while driving, you might have a clogged idle air control valve. The valve is located in the throtle body, just below the air intake hose. Locate the idle air control valve, un plug the connector, unscrew it (you will need star screw driver) and next clean it using an electronic contact cleaner spray, I use 3M for that. Next, make sure all cleaning liquid inside is gone (it evaporates quickly) and re assemble it. This should solve your problem once for all.

on some it goes from motor to firewall or motor to the frame.. you have to have a good eye for it is easily overlooked...good luck

your fuel pump is going.

there was a 10 year unlimited mileage warranty on 2000 focus for this issue, but not sure if 2001 was included. The internal filters in the fuel pump clog and starve the pump. New stlye filters went into prodction but not sure if all of 2001 had the new design.

if the car sputters or anything before it dies then u might have a fuel problem. u could try changing ur fuel filter. Or simply give the car a tune up. New spark plugs and wires.

if you haven't checked the ASD relay, make sure its working.
if thats okay, check the Cam Angle and Crank Angle sensors. if it isn't any of those, its probably the ECU
