POWERTRAIN DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT
This dashboard symbol may illuminate red or yellow / amber on the Ford Transit / Connect. A cog with an exclamation mark inside indicates a malfunction with the powertrain, a sensor or software fault. A malfunction with the powertrain may see the vehicle lose a certain amount of power, but will continue to run. If light flashes whilst driving, avoid heavy acceleration or deceleration and gently reduce speed. Symbol may illuminate with the engine warning light MIL -(see below). If both lights illuminate together, a continual reduction in power is likely, possibly followed by the turning off. Have vehicle checked by a Ford technician immediately
I think you mean the yellow circle with the triangle and the exclaimstion point? ... That would be a service light. If it says ABS in the center (orange warning light ln the right, not left) then your brake system needs inspected or serviced.
The car is now quite old, and the yellow gear ("cog") light indicates that the hydraulic pressure in the transmission is incorrect. Check fluid level and, if the fluid is murky or off-color, have the transmission serviced and the filter replaced.
It's similar, but not identical to the standard brake warning light (these usually have two circling arrows, one on each side). Check your brakes. The park brake may be on, or there is a fault in the brake system.
I think it's time for a rule requiring warning indicators to have a printed label as well as an icon. Too many people have trouble figuring out the hieroglyphics, especially when they don't follow a standard. Even if you don't read the language, you can look up the word on Babelfish. You can't do that with an icon.
Could it be an exclamation (!) in a circle? If it is, that is the warning light for your brake system. Check the fluid level at the master cylinder, add if needed, and check for brake fluid leakage under the car. Be careful, as you may lose your brakes if the fluid level drops too low. If this is NOT the symbol you see, let me know, I'll try to find another explanation for it. If it is a ? inside a cutaway of a tire, (kind of a 'U' shape with a question mark in it) it is your tire pressure monitoring system warning of low tire pressure in one or more tires.
Gear with ! (Automatic transmission) Yellow warning lamp = The transmission is malfuctioning. Avoid heavy loads. All of the selector lever positions can continue to be engaged; in the forward drive positions, however, the vehicle will be operating in a restricted gear range only. Have the system checked as soon as possible.
