If you have the steering on hard lock ( left or right) the noise may be from the pressure relief valve in the pump operating. If backing the steering off a touch stops the noise ,it will be the pressure relief valve
The noise may be from loose drive belt slipping under full load of the pump on hard lock. Again back of a touch and see if the noise abates.
remember when stationary and probably with the brakes on the power steering pump works extra hard as it has to turn the tyres on hard stand as well as lift the front of the vehicle up from the castor angle of the wheel alignment

Depends on what the noise sounds like. Some noise can be normal if you are holding the steering wheel at full lock . That is the pressure from the pump pushing hydraulic fluid through the steering box. If it is usually loud at the slightest turn..could be bad steering pump , leaking hose, leaking seal at steering box, even a bad belt.

Noisy power steering pump. New belt proper tension. Squealing when turn to left of right. Replaced pump. Still same noise. What is the problem?

if you have the wheel on full lock then the bypass valves in the pump or steering box are activated to prevent steering and pump damage They will make a noise at this point
go to full lock then when the noise starts back off a bit and if it stops then that is the valves
if not take it to an accredited power steering shop for a diagnosis.

When I turn or go over a dip in the road it makes a pop and grinding noise

I would say it sounds like cv joints need replacing.also check bushes and ball joints for play. If ok turn steering on full lock both ways.start with full lock on right turn pull away slowly if you get knocking noise you will know it's that side is worn and then do same on left turn on full lock.

Loud noise when power steering is on full lock Kia Sedona 2004

There may be 2 possible causes for this problem. THe first may be cv koints failing or excessive turn angle of the wheel which would be binding up the cv joint. This can be checked by a wheel aligner testing the maximum turn allowed at the wheels.. The second is that power steering pumps should never be operated at tight full turn. To umnderstand this consider this. Power steering pumps are only under load when you move the steering wheel ans if you turn a bit the pump moves the wheels and then the pressure is let off until you move the wheel again. You have to move the wheel to shut off a valve in the box that allows the pump to build up pressure. When you hold the wheel hard against the stops at full turn you are making the pump work at maximum pressure and if you continue to do this you can expect premature pump failure. Jusat turn until you hit the stops then ease off a fraction. The noise I expect is the pressure relief valve in the pump is releasing rapidly and it probably sounds like a hammer hitting something metalic. Try the alignment and try not holding the turn hard at hard full turn. Haveing the pump pressure checked might also point to a fault

Cv joint question

Stationary lock to lock turning, will not damage the CV joints, they are designed to turn in this manner, to test a CV joint to see if it has damage, go to an empty parking lot, stop the car, turn the steering wheel full left, accelerate kinda hard, do you hear a clicking or clunking noise? repeat in reverse and on the right hand side. Any noises and your CV joints may be worn, also inspect the CV boots for tears and leakage by turning full left and looking at the boot, then full right. Hope this helps, let me know
