Transmission not shifting goes in reverse, and in the middle gear forward
Replace the solenoid package for the transmission. It's mounted on the outside of the transmission. Between the transmission and the radiator, drivers side. It has one big plug and three bolts. You have to remove the cooler lines and the one sensor there to get it out. Clean around it very well before pulling it out. You do not want to get any dirt in the holes when changing it. Parts run around $300
Stuck in limp mode Turn off & let sit for a minute or 2 & it may reset. Probably will do the same over again .Have it checked on scanner for codes

Sorry but if your reverse is having trouble you will probably have to replace or rebuild tranny like me. Otherwise try new filter and fluid first.

transmission speed sensor needs replacing about 40.oo$ at the dealer sits on the right side of transmission looking from the front of the radiator g s.
SOURCE: Transmission still shifts erractically
well if you have a lot of millage it could only be the gearpump in the transy thats finished, unfotuntly ...you cant really change -it without rebuilding the all transy
other than that you still can drive-it but try letting the gear go on by it self ,you could damage your van by doing that !! you mignt not have choice but if you do ...try not doing-it!

I am going to assume you have the overdrive trans. This trans defualts to second gear if the trans computer detects there is a problem.
This problem can be anything from internal falure to sensors that are bad. You have to scan it for trans codes. It could be a simple input or output speed sensor. that is the easiest. however you have to start with the scan.
Most Advance and Autozone parts stores will scan for free.
Hope this helps and hope it is not internal.

I replaced the speed sensor & this took care of the problem.
