I have a 2000 dodge ram. I had the same problem the truck would just stall no matter how fast or slow i was going. It ended up being the crankshaft position sensor. You need to check for codes to find the problem. p0385-p0389 is the crank shaft sensor. It takes about 5 min. to change if thats the problem. On that year you might be able to turn the key to the on position but not starting then off, then on, then off, then on (three times) on the third time leave on and watch the odometer it will flash codes then will say p-done.

I had the same problem at about 150,000 miles the ECM develops problems and will shut off the engine, gauges go dead. Restarts after cooling down some. When it dies check quickly in the led odometer/tripometer if it says No Buss for a few seconds it is probably the ECM. They can be ordered online for about $250 delivered.

check the connection wires to the fuel pump and tank, might be a bad connection as both the fuel pump and gauge join at this point.

Dash gauges stop working and wont start

Sounds like the cluster itself maybe bad, someone else can chime in, but newer cars have electronic clusters that move based on the computer. Get one at the junkyard and test it out (while at the junkyard)

Car just completely dies while I'm driving..could be 5 min or 45 min into driving but car just shut down...starts back and drivives fine...please help

Could be the cam sensor, crank sensor, coil pack, fuel pump. Even if no warning light is lit, the computer is recording these shut downs and why. A good mechanic, with the proper scanner can pinpoint the culprit.

My gas gauge issues and other similar electrical

Though these systems may be unrelated, there is one universal possibility that I can think of. This sounds like a problem with the electrical grounds throughout the truck.

Clean and tighten the ground cable on the battery, and make sure that the ground wires are tightly connected to the frame and engine block. After that, make sure that the ground connections for the systems you described are in good shape, and tightly connected.

My gas gauge works (not incredibly accurate, but works). When i stop for more than a few seconds the gauge goes to empty. when i start moving it goes back to full and slowly comes down to where the gas...

As far as the gas gauge level goes, it sounds to me like it could be the float ball system that is inside of the gas tank, which is connected to the fuel pump.I dont think your guage in the dash is broke, but i could be wrong. Sounds like something in the fuel pump area

Intermitant temperature

Check to make sure your thermostat works right by monitoring the warming up of your engine. With a completely cold engine, start and run the engine for a few minutes, then put your hand on the top radiator hose to monitor if and when it gets warm as the thermostat opens more and more and note the gauge reading( if it works) the top radiator hose should be unbearably hot within 5-8 minutes. If the therm. opens right it should close right aswell, staying open a little while eventhough the radiator may have cooled may be what you are experiencing causing the rapid cooling and is nothing to worry about. The Hose should not get warm very soon after starting the engine. Regarding you gauge, lets take one step at a time, verify proper op. or the therm.
