How do I replace the power antenna on a 1992 pontiac firebird
I realize that I need to remove the fender cover and took out the screws. But there are other things holding the cover in. Do I just pull these out or what?

If the other things are the plastic push pin fasteners, then yes. If they are the push pin type, you first have to pull the pin out of the center of them, then the rest comes out easy.

look under the hood in engine compartment along fenders and also check connections on the battery, clean off the posts if needed. Check battery for voltage if it's less than 11 volts it's bad.
I have not owned a buick for years. However, the one I did have trouble with the power antenna motor was located directly under the antenna. It was in the rear fender housing. I have to remove the trunk lining on the side of the fender. It was mounted a bracket. It was easy to replace as it all comes as a complete assembly. Hope that helped
pop the rear deck lid and remove the right rear plastic trunk cover. To do this you will remove the small plastic piece that is directly in front of the right rear tail light. Then remove the big plastic screw that retains the center plastic deck lid cover. Now remove the three 10mm nuts that keep the right rear plastic cover secured. Remove the right rear plastic cover. Be careful as it can crack if you put too much pressure on it. Look inside and to the right rear where the antenna mast comes up. You will see a small 10mm nut that holds the antenna mast to the body. Take that nut off. This will release the outer body cover from the inner cover. Remove the outer body cover and then remove the two screws from the OUTSIDE of the body cover. Now follow the antenna body down and you will see two or three additional small nuts that hold the antenna assembly metal bracket in place. Remove these. Unplug the antenna co-ax cable from the input. It just slides out. Unplug the antenna connection as well. This is the jack that has the power wires. You will also need to unscrew the ground wire from the inner body frame. There might be a nut on top of the actual antenna mast. If so, just unscrew it. The entire antenna assembly will now lift out. It's a mildly tight fit but you don't need to be too gentle in this step. Normally the problem is the antenna belt has broken inside the antenna assembly and there is no hope of replacing that belt. You have to replace the entire assembly. I found mine on Craigslist from a guy parting his totaled Z. May it rest in peace. His loss - my gain! Typical price is $65, maybe you can talk him down to $50. Installation is the above process in reverse.
If i remember correctly this cars ant is located on the pass/side fender, the best way without trying to pull the fuse because then you will loose other systems, look under the passenger side part of the dash, you will need to remove the cover if its still there, most older cars are missing this cover, there are a few screws holding the cover remove them and drop and pull cover out, next look under the dash you will see wires coming from the fender area towards the radio there are green and theres a plug there, look close to the right and just unplug the connector, have the key on so you can here when the ant motor stops running and this will take care of that problem. good day.
ok, You are going to have to remove the front passenger fender to access the Antenna location. If not the whole fender at least the splash guard in the wheel well. The good news about this is you have to remove that splash guard anyway so if you get that out and see you can reach the antenna then you can do the job without removing the rest of the fender. I assume you mean replace the whole antenna assembly in this response, if your just talking about the wire part that sticks up all you have to do is put a wrench on the nut looking end right where the wire part of the antenna starts and wrench it off like any other nut. Now, on the assembly, once you can access the lower part you will need a spanner wrench to remove the collar that holds the Antenna assembly in place. You can remove this without a spanner if your VERY careful and use a regular flat screwdriver on a slight angle in the little notches and turn the collar counterclockwise to remove it. Once that comes free the whole assembly will drop through to the fender area where you can remove it. For the wire it should move freely through the upper firewall area. Make note of that area because you will have to put the new wire through that area so you can connect it to the radio.
