Get a piece of wire and insert into the stud holes with the head sitting in place. put the wire in and hold your finger at the head when the wire will not go in any further. Hold it against a stud and the stud that is just a bit shorter will fit in that hole. repeat the process until you have the studs in the right holes. If the hole is bottom less and longer then any stud the stud will be 1" longer than the head thickness at the stud and you will have to use thread sealer on the thread or coolant will leak up past the stud and into the sump.

SOURCE: I need a detailed diagram of a 307 V8 motor for a 1970 chevy nova

Your best bet is to get yourself a repair manual from chiltons or strate from G.M. Most all your major auto parts stores have web sites you can go to and get the information and diagrams you need also. A repair manual is best. You also can get them thru Year One. National Parts Depot. Original Parts Groupe, Jegs, and Summit Racing. for your particular project.

SOURCE: I need to replace the head gasket on my 2000

Normally I would advise exactly how to do a job, but this is one of those tasks that you NEED to buy a haynes manual so you have the correct tightening/torquing sequence, the correct method to set the timing, etc. This can be an involved process, and without the proper illustrations and information, would be homocide to your vehicle's engine to undertake. While you're in there, you'll want to change out the timing chain as well though, FYI.

Where are the bolts located to remove starter from 2006 chevy colbalt

I had a suspicion, so I checked. Sure enough, this is one of those fantastically engineered engines with one bolt visible, and the other INSIDE THE FRIGGIN' BELL HOUSING.

Have fun getting to that one. :p

Do i need to have my 2004 dodge intrepid anti theft code reset through a dealership if the heads and head gaskets were replaced? the entire top of the engine ws taken apart adn put abcl together.

i would disconnect the battery. removing both the positive and negative battery terminals. with both ends disconnected, hold the two terminals together for about 10 seconds. this will proform a hard reset on most chrysler vehicles. also, if this doesnt work, try turning the key to the on position, and then proforming the hard reset procedure.

I need torque specs for the head bolts on a 2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe 2.4L SOHC

For 2004 Dodge Stratus 2.4L SFI SOHC 4cyl the Head Bolt Torque sequence
------------ | 10 6 2 3 7 | | 9 5 1 4 8 | ------------

Step: 1 - Torque to 25 ft/lbs
Steps: 2 - Torque to 50 ft/lbs
Steps: 3 - Torque to 50 ft/lbs
Steps: 4 - Turn 90 degreesRecheck final torque in sequence

Caution:Engine uses torque to yield head bolts (TTY) that permanently stretch during initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder headis replaced or re installed to obtain proper torque specification.

Hope helps (remember comment and rated this).

Is changing the head gasket in a 94 continental executive series the same as it is in most cars? Time intensive but relatively simple?

Sorta easy. This is what i did. took off all the brackets i could see connected to both heads. once the alternator and ps pump are out of your way but not disconnected sorta resting to the side, Make sure battery is not connected. lol once you have everything peeled off the block,. Then you can start with the (uim)upper intake manifold. 6 bolts 2 studded 4 aren't. and 2 bolts holding the throttle and transmission linkage. Pull the (UIM) and you will see the the intake manifold(IM) Theres like 12 bolts one is studded. take em off and carefully pry the (IM) off the Block. then take your valve cover bolts sud be 5 of them 3 are studded and lay near the plugs. Once your at this point you will see your 10 rods i think held down by about 5 bolts each side..now get a cardboard box and punch small holes in them and place the rods you remove in the same order you take them out so you can put them back in exactly. Now a lil tricky is the exhaust manifold get a pry bar ready take your plugs out and undo the exhaust manifold bolts out 6 of them. if you must. id spray liquid wrench on them a day or two in advance. I had no problem removing any my bolts no breaks. But i did take time to let LW to soak in over night. once bolts are out. you need to pry back the exhaust manifold a lil to remove the head on each end. thats If you dont decide to take the whole exhaust manifold out. Once heads are off and out. take em to your local machinist test them for cracks and warps. Then buy the headgasket kit and bolts runs about 150. you can not reuse the head bolts they are stretching type. some rtv and torquing . put her together and your good to go. Now thing i left out. Yes the full injectors are held in by a t10 torxs i think. pull em all out at once 6 of them.keep them attached and dont disconnect the gas line. put it to the side. then the coolant hose came off with no fluid in it. the hoses i took off the engine did not contain fluids. This is where i got my torque specs. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/650.shtml#NOTE%202
Tools i used are mainly 13 mm short and deep socket 15 mm short and deep socket. and a 10 mm. and random other tools that help you reach and angle. Hope this helps. And good luck. Ps b4 you take her apart can you take images from under the hood. I do have a bracket which im trying to find out it went. for now its coat hanging ;)

Replace headlight bulb in 2000 dodge durango sxt 4.7l

There are 3 machine bolts that hold the big white part of the head light to the truck. These bolts are black and I think 7/16 but not completely sure, maybe 12mm or so. You'll need sockets, ratchet and a really long extension. Two regular extensions won't reach the bottom one. You get to all three of them from the front of the truck straight in. Once those are out, the head light assembly pulls forward and can dangle from about 10-12 inches of extra wire. This is attached to the bulb harness. 1/3 of a turn and the wire and bulb come out of the head light. Pop the new bulb back in WITH GLOVES, do not touch those halogens. And put it back together. You can use peanut butter in a deep well or regular socket to hold the screws in to get them started, or the rag thing.
It took me 14,607 hours to find these bolts and about 10 minutes to do the job! Hope it helps out!
