Question about 1991 Buick Regal

Have a 91 Buick regal,only charges wen I pull cluster fuse,then tach and speedometer stop

I looked for fuseable link by the battery,only has one wire on selinoid,was told to try pulling cluster fuse,wen I do that it charges but my tach and speedometer stop,

Speedometer fuse 2003 buick regal

No fuse just for the speedometer , fuse for whole instrument cluster . No reset either , hooking up a factory scan tool to check for DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes in the instrument cluster or BCM - body control module . Could be a bad stepper motor in the instrument cluster . GM vehicles from 2003 to 2006 had bad stepper motors .

Check all fuses. Pull instrument cluster and inspect wiring and plugs / harnesses. Clean contacts with 91% rubbing alcoholand reassemble

1989 regal tach stopped working

check for a faulty wire/s to the tacho of a faulty tacho unit
the tacho gets its reading by the ignition impulses so any engine running problems may have been a result of the faulty tacho or wires.

Have a 1991 Buick regal,it stops charging wen I plug in temp/fuel gauge into the cluster,why would it do that?

Does it stop charging or the light just comes on/gauge goes down? Plug it in and check if the alternator is putting out 13+ volts. It could be a short in the cluster or the wire from the alternator.

Do the fuseable links from fuel pump relay center have anything to do with my car not charging wen the cluster fuse is in?there are 3or 4 of them off there.

no check yr generator whip it out & check this first I suggest.

Fusible links are a type of fuse- they melt and stop the flow of electricity if too much current flows through.

There isn't any fusible links attached to the fuel pump relay.

The excact location of fuseable link for 91 3.8 lt buick regal,there's only one little wire on selinoid

The two fusible links on G.M. cars used to be behind the alternator. A heavy (appx. 10 gauge) wire on the alternator had a fusible link a couple of inches back from the bolt. Pull on wire to see if the link is burned out. The other link was attached to the starter soleniod . Same test.

These are done by the starter. There could be up to four of them.

goback and get the harness that fits the cluster and plug it direct to the fuse block, Its the only way....Good luck pat from P,O
