2001 ford windstar how to disconnect anti theft
Hi,
As others have inducated, it is a passive sytem based on the chip in the key. A couple of things to try.
if you have another Ford Key for the car, try that one. It may work while the one that gets most use may not.
Another possibility, disconect the battery, turn on the head lights for a few seconds to eliminate any power on the system. Then wait 15 minutes. Then reconnect the battery, make sure the connections are tight. Then insert the ignition key, turn to the start position DO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR YET. Leave the key in the start position for 15 minutes. Then turn the key to off and then try to start the car.
Hi Julie , What kind of problem are you having ? No start , security light on or flashing , if so there is a DTC - diagnostic trouble code stored in one of the modules of this vehicle ! You can't just disconnect the Anti-theft system ,Lawrence is correct , the vehicle will not work at all. I don't know about by pass kits for fords ,I see them for GM products mainly . You have to consider that the vehicle will be venerable to theft. Not that yours is a vehicle with a high priority for that. Most of the time with these systems it is a key issue , to many things on the key ring , an other ignition keys with transponders messing up the system.
You need a bypass kit from Ford. Otherwise just disconnecting the harness will not allow the car to start.

yes its possible to disable the alarm immobiliser ,remove the ECU unit .then solder in a 12v supply from the on side of ignition, find a suitable connection in the wiring harness feed and solder to a switching transistor on the side of unit with a heat sink to the base connection of a transistor that controls the feed to another three transistors ,starter motor earth for relay, fuel pump earth relay, and ignition ,no relay and away you go location of transistors iam not saying as i dont wont the car theives reading it ,but its as easy as falling off a log when you know the colour of the wires, pin numbers and a magnifying glass soldering iron .took me hours to follow the the connections in the fuse box separating the two halves to follow circuit, tracing wires back to ECU then following printed circuit but i have done it .SO DEALERS EAT YOUR HEART OUT ANOTHER FOOD WITHOUT WORKING FOR IT JOB LOST .going to try it out on a dammed renault when i get time. Also sell the details over the internet ???? no i dont think so iam just glad i have pissed off the local dealers that wanted 200€

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.
