Engine starts ,key fab does not work, top will not go down, lights work, seams to be a security problem.
Two possibilities. One the brake switch is bad. Press the brake pedal and see if you have brake lights. No lights replace the switch at the brake pedal. Next is the solenoid at the shifter. Most times you have to buy the entire shifter to get the solenoid.
With the key on (does not have to be running) and you press the brake, you should hear a click when the solenoid releases the lock mechanism for the shifter. If i does not release, there is a small plastic plug about 1/2 inch (1-2 cm) in diameter to the top left of the J-Gate track where the shift knob moves. It has a 6-pointed slot (large Torx) but can easily be unscrewed with a large screw driver. With plug removed, poke the screwdriver down the hole and you can manually release the shift mechanism - you will push against a slight spring pressure. That is what this hole is for. Problem could be brake switch, one of the computer modules, or solenoid. Check the brake switch as suggested. Security system generally won't let the car even start if it is not happy. Join the free JaguarForums.com and search for how to reprogram a key fob - you can do this yourself. Good luck.
Could be as simple as a battery change in your key fob. A lot of cars won't let you drive until the fob is active. Other than that i don't know what else to check. Hope this helps.
