2001mercury cougar anti theft keeps going off how can it be stopped

Hi,
Should have a diagram under the hood on the front cowl area, or inner fender well on belt side.
Can usually find one online, but you need to state if its a 4cyl or 6cyl., with or without A/C.....Mike

SOURCE: anti theft light won't go out

There are 2 things to try:
1) Use your key to manually unlock the driver's side door - sometimes this alone is enough to reset your security system.
2) Put your key in the ignition and turn to ON position (do not try to start the car, just turn to ON)- after 30 seconds, attempt to start the car and see if the security light goes out.

if the security system is malfunctioning, it wont let the engine start as to avoid someone stealing it. have someone check the system or just deactivate the security cuz your car is useless unless it runs! security can take a back seat to the ability for it to move

now my car wont start at all the theft light on the dash flashes rapidy when ignition is on it will crank but not run??
