Blow out hot air ahen the AC is on
SOURCE: 2001 Ford Taurus blowing hot air from the vents
I have the same problem on my 2000 Taurus. I've been told by a Ford service technician that it is probably an intermittent problem where the blend door gets stuck in the 'heat' position. I have electronic A/C controls, and there is a diagnostic procedure I can do where it runs the blend door through its full range of motion, and which seems to get it unstuck. If the problem happens again (and as I said, mine is intermittent), you might try doing the same thing by turning the dial all the way from hot to cold and back again a few times, to see if it gets unstuck. Or you could try to repair/replace the blend door.

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

there are few things you need to check out:
1. if the compressor is overcharged it will shut down and you won't get any cool air
2. the thermostat for your cooling system is bad
3. the link to adjust the temperature is too short (did you feel the switch loose when changing temperature from hot to cold)?
hope this helps.
