Cigarette lighter does not work - 2000 Ford Taurus

First check the fuse, next, get a light tester and see if you getting power to the lighter unit. two wires to your cigarette lighter one black for - and red for +, if you getting power, your line is good that mean your cigarette lighter unit does does not have a good contact to what ever is plugging in. replace the unit; if no power to the unit, test the cigarette fuse and see if the wire is hot. if not you have a short to the fuse. hope that help some..good luck
