SOURCE: Engine Light on got 3 codes

Fix the leak at the emissions system first. There is a small leak that the PCU detected. That could be the cause of the P0116 problem. Also the PCU detected a lean gas mixture because it is getting more air to the fuel system than gasoline. Start with the leak , then the Engine temperature sensor. I think that fixing the lek will "fix' the othe 2 problems. but it could be either one or all of them.

SOURCE: check engine light on kia sorento

believe me..i had this problem before with my sorento 06. send to garage many time but the problem kept coming after 2 weeks.. but i found my self that whenever ESC light is on ,engine became sluggish. what will you do is to use a cruise control until you reach home. after that..at front passenger side, next to door, open the side cover,,you will see a bunch of cable inside..with your engine on and press the pedal lightly..pull that cables with your hand...and you will found your engine revs.

Service engine soon light is staying on and computer is not showing a code

How does the vehicle run ?
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Always On
Circuit Description
Ignition voltage is supplied to the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). The powertrain control module (PCM) turns the MIL ON by grounding the MIL control circuit.
MIL Operation
The MIL is located on the instrument panel (IPC).
MIL Function ?€¢
The MIL informs the driver that a malfunction has occurred and the vehicle should be taken in for service as soon as possible.

?€¢
The MIL illuminates during a bulb test and a system test.

?€¢
A DTC will be stored if a MIL is requested by the diagnostic.

You could have a bad instrument cluster ! Here is part of diagnostic flow chart for your vehicle !

1

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check-Engine Controls?
Go to Step 2
Go to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls

2

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the PCM.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Observe the MIL.
Is the MIL illuminated?
Go to Step 3
Go to Step 5

3

  1. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Test the MIL control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 6
Go to Step 4

4

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 6

5

Replace the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?

Computer code P0650

P0650

Description
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Output drive moduels (ODM's) are used by the powertrain control module (PCM) to turn on many of the current-driven devices that are needed to control various engine and transaxle functions. Each ODM is capable of controlling up to 7 separate outputs by applying ground to the device whish the PCM is commanding ON. Unlike quad diver modules (QDM's) used in prior model years, ODM's have the capability of diagnosing each output circuit individually. DTC P0650 set indicates an impropervoltage level on the output circuit that control the MIL.

My 99 Jeep Wrangler failed inspection for a P0650 mil malfunction. Is this a wiring problem or a bad bulb/fuse?

DTC P0650 represents an issue with the actual check engine light (malfunction indicator lamp). Ignition voltage is supplied directly to the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). The powertrain control module (PCM) controls the lamp by grounding the control circuit via an internal switch called a driver. The primary function of the driver is to supply the ground for the component being controlled. The driver has a fault line which is monitored by the PCM. When the PCM is commanding a component ON, the voltage of the control circuit should be low, near 0 volts. When the PCM is commanding the component control circuit OFF, the voltage potential of the circuit should be high, near battery voltage. If the fault detection circuit senses a voltage other than what is expected, the fault line status will change causing the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to set.

A DTC P0650 indicates a problem with the circuit to the actual check engine light itself. If the fault is current, check if the check engine (service engine soon) lamp comes on when you turn the ignition on, If not, we will need to pull the engine control computer and ground the wire that goes to the light. If the light comes on, it is a failed pcm which must be replaced and reprogrammed. If not, it is either the circuit to the cluster or the cluster itself.

Good luck.
