The air filter is in the engine cover.. the engine cover is also the air filter box.. you have to pull the cover off.. then flip it over and there are 4 screws holding the airfilter.. losen those screws then take the air filter out, replace it and put the screws back on.. then gently put the cover back ontop of the engine. make sure you fit the four holes with the the four studs exactly.

For Toyota 2007 rav4 6 cyl.: How do you remove the engine air filter cover without damaging the tubes and hoses connected to it? I am replacing the engine filter.'Thanks for the help.

Under the hood right behind the battery. Undo the clips on that black plastic box and the filter is right there. There is also a cabin air filter behind the lower glove box.

When you change the filter, you shouldn't have a problem with the hoses or tubes.

How to change an air filter on a 2008 jetta 2.0 turbo

On the VW Jetta MkV, the cabin filter is underneath the glove box. Access is gained by removing two plastic screws, gently pulling down a piece of foam insulation, and releasing a single clip to detach the filter. It (and some debris from it) fall easily onto the floor mat below. Insert the new cabin filter, replace the insulation, re-screw the screws, and within 3 minutes, you're back in business with fresh air and clean hands besides!

Can't find the air filter compartment to change the old filter

The answer from another site:

If it the same as the 1998 model, there should be a black plastic box on the right side of the engine compartment that says "remove to service air filter element below", the filter is NOT in this box, it is in another plastic box below this one. You must remove the two screws on the box you see, remove the two hoses connected to it, one you just pull off, the other you must remove a clamp to remove. After you do this you can see the box containing the filter it is set vertically and has two metal clips keeping it closed, just remove the clips, and change the filter, don't forget to replace both hoses and both screws.
