Turn key on wait for all dashboard lights to appear / light up - turn key off then repeat this 5 times . finally start car / run a few minutes - turn off this will reset factory security . Or Disconnect battery positive then leave it for 30 min. - reconnect and start car . A whole lot of info about Bypassing GM passkey ll anti - theft is on google . The computer chip wears out etc. It was A Really Useless Idea invented By Overpriced suit & Ties . Best security ever is Big Dog in front passenger seat . Good Luck .
If the security light is not on it might be the fuel pump. check relay and also turn key to on and listen for hum. if security light is on or flashing then the passlock needs bypassed. much cheaper than replacing parts.
Their is a computer chip behind the antifreeze bottle check the second wire harness play with that while someone turns the key it happend to mine the same thing and started right up
Just because the car doesn't have a chip, doesn't mean much. The new systems work with a transponder in the key. Works on radio wave. There is no reset button, or else any thief could just push it. Have you had your ecu checked out? Does your check engine light come on, on the dash, when you turn the ignition key to on? If that light does not come on, your ecu might need to be repaired.
Common problem is the "chip" in the key wears with time and eventually won't function in the car's VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System). The chip itself is actually a resistor. The ignition requires a particular resistance before it will allow the car to start. You can test this by trying another key that has the chip. If the other key starts the car, you've identified the problem and need another key. If not, the car has a security issue that will likely need to be diagnosed at the dealer.
DOES THE KEY HAVE A LITTLE BLACK CHIP ON IT IF SO THE KEY COULD BE WORN NEEDING REPLACEMENT... IF NOT THEN SUSPECT THE LOCK KEY TUMBLER ASSY..THE LITTLE WIRES THAT HOOK TO THE SENSOR ARE PROBABLY BROKE NEEDING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LOCK, KEY TUMBLER ASSY. DEALER ITEM ONLY
The New Key you are using is a duplicate?
The Original Key has a Security Chip in it.
Take the broken head of the original Key and tape it to the steering column right near the ignition cylinder. Now use the New Key and restart the vehicle. It should now stay running.
The lack of the Security Chip allows restarting, but then shuts the engine down after 10-seconds. 3-tries and after the third, it will not allow it to Start for approximately 30-minutes.
This Security Chip sends a signal to the ignition sensor allowing the vehicle to continuously run.
