Where is the flasher unit for the 2012 Equinox?

Someone suggested installing a flasher unit with a different load rating to settle hyper flash when using LED turn signal lamps. I can hear the sound of a flasher, but I have nothing that tells me where it is located or how to replace it ... or even IF that's possible.

I believe another way to stop hyperflash is to wire a standard indicator unit & bulb in the flasher circuit to fool the flasher unit - fit it somewhere obviously accessible but not visible outside the vehicle(under bonnet probably)

the flasher is behind the dash where the steering column goes. It's hard to get at and harder to remove. They just can't make these things easy, can they?

SOURCE: where is turn signal flasher 93 cadillac sedan deville located?

On the 1993 Sedan de Ville, The hazard flasher is easy to locate, under the dash between the steering column and the radio. Looking up, you will see the smooth round side of the flasher and the wires will be attached to the top.

The turn signal flasher is more difficult to get to, but readily accessed with a T-15 torx driver and a little patience. It is located to the left of the steering column, but is most easily accessed through the dash panel instead of from underneath.

1. remove the T-15 screw from above the headlight switch, above the fuel data center, and above the small panel similar to the one around headlight switch. All of these are somewhat hidden, and you'll need to feel for them or get low and look up at them.

2. Using a bent piece of wire or an allen wrench, or anything else handy, pull off the small trim piece that is directly below the steering column. On my car, this is wood-grained plastic. This will expose two more screws that need to be removed.

3. Now, you should be able to remove the large dash trim panel that goes around the fuel data center.

4. Unscrew the two T-15 screws that hold the fuel data center into the dash, and it should pull straight forward. There should be plenty of wire to move it out of the way.

5. The turn signal flasher is the silver can that you see to the right in the opening you just created by removing the fuel data center module. It has a single plug with two conductors on the back. I had to use a small screwdriver to pry it off.

It is a different part number, so I don't know if you can just swap it for the hazard flasher to test it like you can on many cars. I just replaced mine with a Wagner 323, which is what came out of mine.

2005 Dodge Durango SLT. Trying to locate turn signal flasher to fix hyper flash after upgrading to LED turn signals.

LED replacement bulbs are nothing but trouble on a vehicle that didn't have them as OEM equipment. In most 'modern' cars, the flashers are controlled by a signal from the Body Control Module or Combined Power Modules via a relay. You need an auto electrician or if the Parts Store sold you the LED bulbs and flasher relay, go back and ask them to sell you the right items to make it flash correctly.

2009. Why are turn signals hyper flashing?

Not sure what plow or plough lights have to do with the turn signals - you surely haven't wired these high powered spotlamps to the direction indicators or even teed from any of the vehicle wiring?

It isn't necessary but traditionally the speed of flash was governed by how much current the bulbs were drawing and suddenly flashing faster if a bulb went out was an accidental but useful benefit and so when electronic flashers came along the facility was deliberately built in.
People who have fitted led bulbs that have no shunt resistors have complained about hyper flashing, because the current draw is negligible and when connection to the lamps is lost altogether due to a faulty hazard switch the dashboard direction indicator tell-tale can go crazy but fitting a couple of spotlamps causing that is a completely new thing...

I am wondering if you followed the rules of wiring accessories to a digital vehicle? The rule is, wherever possible do not connect anything except manufacturer's upgrade kits to the vehicle wiring and when fitting electrical accessories always wire from scratch starting at the battery to keep the circuit completely separate and if a connection must be made to the vehicle electrics it should represent a load no greater than a relay coil.

The load is definitely different to the flasher module. You should be able to locate a module suitable for the LED replacements to get normal operation back. Just change the flasher module to a solid state unit.

Turn signals

The flasher unit, normally located under the dashboard, could well be due for replacement.
Rapid operation and only a faint display of the signal on your dashboard normally signals a failed bulb.
You have it on both sides though so if you haven't noticed that the problem favors one or the other sides, the flasher is likely bad.
You might have someone watch your turn signal lights to see if there is any action at all from them.

FYI; the common flasher has a heating element in it through which some of the current for the bulbs flows to make them load dependent and thereby letting you know when you have a failed bulb.
The lowered current causes an incomplete thermal cycle of the heated element and a more than normal flash rate.
