The digital display of the time, radio station and CD stopped working on 10/29/14. What do I do?

On the display it is the Time, Radio Station and CD info. The radio and CD are working fine. It is just the display that is not working. Could this be a fuse issue? If not what do I do?

I need a radoi code for my 2002 Mercedes CLK 430

Please check the information that came along with the owner's manual. It should be printed on a card that comes with those booklets. I assume you've already done that though. I've attached the procedure for entering the code below. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

If the radio is disconnected from the power supply it is not ready for operation when reconnected. After switching on the ignition and the radio the word "CODE" appears on the display and the letter "C" flashes.

NOTE: The five-digit code number for this radio is printed on the CODE CARD which you were given.

Enter the code number with station buttons, e.g. number 1, station button 1.

After entering the first digit the word "CODE" disappears and the digit entered is displayed followed by 4 dashes. The next digit to be entered flashes. After all 5 digits are entered, the first digit flashes again. In this state the code number can be written over repeatedly. A correction can be made only by reentering the entire code number.
Confirming the code number: Press seek-UP/seek-DOWN or SCAN button. The radio switches on automatically and displays the station or frequency stored for station button 1.

If the wrong code number has been entered and confirmed, the word "CODE" appears on the display again. After the code has been entered three times incorrectly the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio is disabled for approx. 10 min .

NOTE: The waiting time continues to run only when the radio is switched on.

After expiration of the waiting time the word "CODE" appears on the display again and the correct code number can be entered. After 3 more incorrect entries the radio is again disabled for 10 min . After 3 more incorrect entries (a total of 9 incorrect entries) the waiting time is increased to 60 min . After 3 more incorrect entries the radio locks up again for 60 min .

How to change the time on the clock

Without Radio Data Systems (RDS): To set the hour, press the clock button. The clock symbol will appear on the display and the hour number will flash. Then turn the ADJ knob to increase or todecrease. To set the minutes, press the clock button again. The minute numbers will flash. Then turn the ADJ knob to increase or to decrease. The time can be set with the ignition on or off.
With RDS: Same as without RDS unless you want to Sync. with a radio station. To synchronize the time with an FM station broadcasting Radio Data System (RDS) information, press and hold the clock button to enter the clock set mode, then press and hold the clock button for three seconds until UPDATED appears on the display. If the time is not available from the station, NO UPDATE will appear on the display. RDS time is broadcast once a minute. After tuning to an RDS broadcast station, it may take a few minutes for the time to update

AR82.60-P-7502-01A Coding Radio
(MODEL all with CODE (750) Radio Becker Europa 2000 with CODE (751) Radio Becker Grand Prix 2000 with RDS)

  1. If the radio is disconnected from the power supply, it is not operational when re-connected. After switching on the ignition and the radio, the readout CODE appears in the display.
  2. The code number for the radio is advised to you on the enclosed CODE CARD.
  3. To enter the first digit of the code number, you have to continue pressing station button 1 until the correct digit appears in the display. Adopt the same procedure for the second, third and fourth digits.
  4. Once you have entered the correct code number with the station buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and confirmed the entry with the SEEK button (press down), the readout CODE disappears. The radio can now be operated.
  5. If you enter a wrong code three times, you must wait 15 minutes before making a new entry. In addition, if 9 incorrect entries are made, the radio will then not operate for 24 hours. During this time the radio and the ignition (terminal 15) must remain switched on.

  5. If an incorrect code number is entered and confirmed, the word "CODE" appears again on the display. If an incorrect code is entered three times the word "WAIT" appears on the display and the radio locks up for approx. 10 min. If the code is entered incorrectly three times again the radio locks up again for 10 min. Three more incorrect entries (a total of 9 incorrect attempts) increase the lock-up time to 60 min. Another three incorrect entries lock up the radio for another 60 min. The waiting time runs only when the radio is switched on.

91 toyota camry- while driving (in the rain) radio suddenly stopped working, although station display remained lit and numbers were displayed. I smelled smoke, of an electrical nature. Drove home, parked...

You have a failed output section inside the radio. If you remove the radio, and take it apart, you will see some burnt capacitors at the very back side of the PC board. This is, unfortunatly, a very common problem with those cars. You are going to have to get another radio, the expense for the manufacturer to fix is is more expense than a replacement. Sorry, but I have seen this situation too many times.

04 Santa Fe Issues

I would look for a ground that is inadequate.
If any part of this is operating essentially without shielding due to a bad ground, then cell towers, a radio or TV station transmitter, CBs, land mobile radio, amateur radio - any of these can inject enough signal to drive modern electronics completely bananas.
The onboard electronics used for just about everything that is remotely controlled by switches generates a ton of digital garbage and can interfere with anything.

The kind of problem you are experiencing started when we stopped using vacuum tubes 50 years ago operating at high voltages and started using semiconductors that use much lower voltages.

A tech with a common multimeter should be able to locate the missing ground connection without too much trouble.
