Drain radiator of antifreeze then add some caustic soda about 200 grms dissolved in a bucket of warm water ,pour this into the rad top up with water and leave engine on idle for half hour ,drain -flush and run engine and see if its any warmer ,if it is the drain water again and give a good flush then refill system with 50% antifreeze

SOURCE: 2004 volkswagen passat v6 no heat

Do you notice that the engine coolant temperature gauge stays on the lower part of the scale as well? If so, it's likely that your thermostat is stuck open - this prevents the coolant from staying in the block long enough to absorb heat that is used to heat the climate-controlled air. I'm not positive on the 3.0 in your car, but the 2.8 V6 in my Audi A4 requires tremendous disassembly in order to change the thermostat. I believe the 3.0 is the same - the labor involved is only slightly less than that required to do a timing belt change (which, if you change the thermostat, since you're already all the way in there, you may as well do the t-belt service as well so you don't have to pay for all that labor again any sooner than necessary).

SOURCE: 2001 Audi A4 2.8 no or little heat

there is a valvve that lets the coolant thru the heater core when heat is selcted then when it is off it goes thru thur the return instead of the heater core i bet your car is running a little off if it is the vavle works of a vacuum line and the vavle has a crack in it

SOURCE: No heat. Temp gauge barely moves, but hoses to/from core are hot

Did you run engine from cold, with heater (not defrost) on , rad cap off & wait for rad fan to come on 2 or 3 times before you put rad cap back on? Rev engine slightly and hold it there for 30sec. to 1 min. every once in a while while doing this to aid in increasing flow & remove air locks. If both hoses in & out are hot to touch, then you should be getting heat, and I would start looking at blend/air door etc on heater to make sure it's going to it's proper position.

SOURCE: 2006 pontiac grand prix vary little or no heat

Are you sure you got all the air out of the cooling system? Air pockets are very common problem when you do any work to the cooling system. An air pocket will do what you discribe.

I have a 2005 buick le sabre and the heater sometimes works and sometimes doesn't

Sounds like the heater matrix is blocked hence you have a little heat until you turn the blower on whereby it comes out cold because there's no more. Get someone to check the temp of the heater hoses when running and check for an airlock in the heater. These can be tricky to clear. Make sure the coolant is full at all times.

Hi! The MAF (mass air flow) sensor is surely faulty. The MAF has big contribution on the engine performance specially on the idling an vacuum supply. If the MAF is faulty the rpm will drop eratically or die. Regarding the overheating problem, you may want to check the radiator blower for it may be tripping that sometimes it works and sometimes won't. This can be a good cause. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

'96 buick regal- heater not producing warmth. fan blows fine and i did check passenger temp contol(set all the way warm) with no results. next best check???

Check the temp of the heater hoses going into the heater from the engine in the engine compartment.
If you have a temp gauge on the dash does it go at least 1/3 the way up the gauge from cold in normal driving.
You can take a garden hose and flush the heater....both ways back and forth then reconnect heater hoses and check for heat.
But.....The # 1 cause of no or low heat is the engine thermostat.
It needs to close tightly to force the engine coolant through the small heater core.

My heat blow cold some body told me i need resistor on a 91 Buick regal unlimited where do i find it

the resister only changes the fan speed
if you have not heat
first check coolant level if it's down then you have a leak that will cause no heat if it's ok
then run the vehicle and make sure the engine temp gauge reads about half if not change the thermostat if the engine temp is ok
then grab the heater hoses see if they are hot then the heater core is plugged and if the heater hoses are hot
then there is a problem with the heater control head
hopr this helps

It sounds normal, but perhaps the radiator is a little small. Make sure the core is clean by blowing it out with compressed air (from the engine side) to clear out bugs and other debris. Make sure the overflow/reserve tank is at the proper level. Check the coolant level in the radiator when engine cold--it should be right at the top of the filler. These are all preventive, not a cure for anything.
