The radiator fan was connected direct to ignition to stay on when engine is running, fan stopped working and caused car to overheat, car wont start now and is displaying codes 1237, 1238, 1239 & 1240 (all fuel injectors are open), how do I reset them or is there a bigger problem ?

CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN RELAY IS FUNCTIONING BY SWAPPING IT WITH ANOTHER LIKE THE WIPER RELAY IF THEY ARE THE SAME. IF THE WIPERS WORK WITH THE A/C RELAY IN IT'S PLACE, THEN TRY REPLACING THE FAN FUSE. IF NONE OF THESE METHODS MAKE THE FAN TURN ON THEN REPLACE THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR LOCATED NEAR THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE INLET TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA.

check your mass air flow sensor , it take over fuel pump control after the engine starts

BTW - if you have less than 100,000miles you might be able to have your cat replaced under warranty by the dealer. In Canada it's 160,000km.

My daughter had the same problem! It turns out the key had "deprogramed" itself. Sure enough, we used her spare key and the car ran like a champ. Oddly enough, the back-up key's remote did not work. VW wanted around $200 dollars to reprogram her key and about the same amount to get a new remote. We put the back-up key on the good remote and she is off to the races.
