Hello, couple of possibilities. Most likely culprit is the brake system. Either the brakes are worn through the asbestos and is now pressing metal on metal, your rotor has worn down to the cooling vents, grove wear that cause grab spots and even pad glazing that has a possibility of creating grab spots when braking. Gonna need to have them looked at, only gets worse.

How do I identify the cause of an ABS Fault?

First thought is that if you have a judder from the brakes you may have a warped front disc. The ABS system sensor may be picking this judder up and converting it to a fault.
A warped disc would spin and catch then spin and catch again rather like the rapid on/off braking that ABS does. This 'could' be the judder you feel and should be especially noticeable when braking and barely noticeable when driving with the brakes completely off.

Hi there i have a year 2000 ford courier van 1.8 td, and when you brake there is a judder through the peddle, the harder you brake the worse the judder, van has been parked up and disks are rusty could this...

Yes, the rotors need to be turned, or replaced depending on if they are warped. The brakes may need to be changed, they may have grooves worn into them from the judder you feel.

Suzuki Grand Vitara 1999:

Going by your description I think it could be something different, I would have the brake master cylinder checked, if you are suffering brake failure and shuddering it sounds like your callipers arent getting equal pressure when you apply the brakes. Or a freat lack of pressure to suffer brake failure. I hope this helps.

Juddering and noise on front wheels when braking

The disks may be warped, which will cause a vibration under braking.
Also if it's an ABS system, the vibration is normal but only under heavy braking, and should not continue to vibrate when working properly.
