My 2004 nissan quest's gear shifter gets stuck in park. I've checked the fuses and removed the panel to check the gear box. Fuses are good and everything looks to be in order under the panel. What else do I need to check?

First are you parking on a hill, or slight incline. If you are put your parking brake on before putting the car in park, because that will cause pressure on the park pawl and make it hard to get out of park. You can also check the button on the gear shift lever to see if it's out of adjustment and not releasing the pin far enough to move the lever. Good luck

SOURCE: Gear shifter will not go into park

There is a plastic actuator stick under the shift knob. Remove the "horse shoe" clip from the shift knob and remove knob by pulling strait up. You can twist it right and left a very small amount to loosen the knob, but not much.
Once you have the shift knob removed you will see the plastic actuator stick. Push down on the stick and put shift lever in park. If that works, the shift knob or stick is worn out.
Let me know.
Regard,

SOURCE: 2003 Jetta TDI alternator light came on in dash

Your voltage regulator supplies the path for the control lead of the alternator and varies the amount of current available to provide the magnetic field of the armature with the required strength. Measuring from this lead to ground won't show much voltage.
Apparently the regulator is not integrated into the alternator and is probably failed. If you can chase the control lead backward, you will find the regulator and these are mostly mounted on the fender well or firewall.

My 2004 Nissan sentra brake lights went out and at the same time the shifter would not come out of park. I luckily used the override button to get it out of park to get home. Is this all caused the by the...

Yes, it's most likely a faulty brake light switch. When you depress the brake pedal, it disengages the shifter. Fist thing to do is check your fuse box to make sure there are no blown fuses. If all the fuses check Ok, then check the brake switch, it should be located under the dash just follow the brake pedal all the way up into the dash and the switch should be there next to the pedal. Check for power at the switch to make sure that it's faulty. One of the wires should have 12 volts. If none of the wires carry 12 volts, then theres a blown fuse somewhere, But if there's power at the switch, then replace the switch and it should work.

How do I fix my Nissan Maxima 1991's shift gear?

Do you hear a click near shifter when ignition is on and you step on brake? if not you have a Shifter Interlock problem. you ennd to check fuses for a possible blown fuse. If it is not a fuse it could be the Switch or solonoid. If you hear the click and can not shift, can you press on shifter lock button? if not Shifter Lock is malfunctioning. It must be taken apart to diagnose what it is exactly. If you CAN push Button then it could be the shift cable itself is frozen, and needs replaceing

Transmission shifter is "frozen" it won't move

It's a fuse issue. Part of the shift interlock system.

If the radio is also not working, it's the cigarette lighter fuse. This one fuse controls the cigarette lighter, the radio, and the shift interlock system. It's in the kick panel fuse box on the driver's side.

If it's not that fuse, it's the "Stop" fuse in the same panel. Both blown fuses create the same behavior.

Easy fix! Don't bother with a mechanic. If the fuse continues to blow, take it to be checked.

Good luck.
