You would need a lot kore info than that. First the Taurus has 3 possible engines and they are al 3.0s. Second, the car has 4 0/2 sensors.

There are four of them. Two up front, under the hood, you can look down by the radiator and see them. One before the catalytic converter one after. The other two are under the engine on the back side of it. You'll have to raise the car to access them. Same as front, one before and one after.

SOURCE: EGR EVP Sensor

Right on top of the EGR, (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), valve, which is on top of the intake.

Looks like this,
http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=35

Now, let's talk. The guy's and gal's at the auto parts stores, are just there to sell auto parts, not diagnose cars, pickup trucks, and so on. Nice that they try to help, but an ODB II scanner just shows generic information.

What I'm stating by that, is that you could buy that expensive part, and this may not cure your problem, and/or you could damage your computer if the procedure isn't done correctly.

The P1400 code states,
1.DPF EGR signal circuit shorted to ground
2.DPF EGR signal VREF circuit open
3.DPF EGR sensor is damaged or has failed
4.PCM has failed (Powertrain Control Module)
5.TSB 4-3-1 contains repair information for this trouble code

You need a scanner that is the NGR, (New Generation Star), or has the capability to read
Ford Enhanced Data.

This connects to the PCM in the harness. (It's located on top of the engine) If the procedure isn't done right, you can "Let the smoke out", of the PCM.
You also have to reset the computer to clear the error code.

I know shop time is expensive, but sometimes it leads to less expense in the long run.

SOURCE: location of the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor on a 2001 ford escape

B1 means the sensor is located on the same bank of the engine that has the #1 cylinder. B2 is located on the opposite bank.
S1 means the sensor is located BEFORE the catalytic converter
S2 means the sensor is located AFTER the catalytic converter

You didn't say which engine you have, so I've included the diagrams of both 4 cyl and 6 cyl so you can see the banks

2000 ford taurus keeps blowing fuse#28 in the engine compartment

The heading says2000 taurus and 1999 taurus. I looked up the wiring for a 1999 taurus. Fuse #28 goes to the heated oxygen sensors and the canister vent solenoid. You have 2 oxygen sensors (green connectors)and 2 catalist monitors(blue connectors) that use this fuse for the heaters that are in the sensors. I would check these sensors to see if any of their wiring is shorted. I have seen in the past where oxygen sensor wiring would rub on a front drive axel and wear thru the wire insulation causing a short. You really need to look at all 4 sensors and their wiring closely for shorts. If they look ok then disconnect all of them and reconnect 1 by 1 until fuse blows again. Fuse #28 also powers the canister vent solenoid which is located under the trunk (under the car) in a black plastic housing (approx 1ft by 1ft). It is the only item with wires going to it. If you disconnect this and the fuse stops blowing then it is shorted. Also check the wiring to see if it rubs or is shorted anywhere.
Hope this helps
