Have a 2006 sebring...can't seem to find the maf sensor...its not on the air intake hose or mounted to the throttle body area...any other ideas would e great. Thanks

I'm not familiar with this vehicle. Some cars don't have MAF sensors however and use MAP sensors instead (Manifold Air Pressure). That sensor would be located on the intake manifold or throttle body.

DTC P0121: Throttle Position (TP) Sensor 1 Performance
Circuit/System Description
The engine control module (ECM) uses the following information to calculate an expected airflow rate:

The throttle position (TP)

The barometric pressure (BARO)

The manifold absolute pressure (MAP)


?€¢
The intake air temperature (IAT)


?€¢
The engine RPM


P0121 The predicted air flow and the predicted MAP combined are outside a calibrated range for more than 3 seconds.
Circuit/System Testing

  1. Inspect for the following conditions:

    Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks, and proper connections as shown on Vehicle Emission Control Information label


    ?€¢
    Inspect thoroughly for any type of leak or restriction


    ?€¢
    Air leaks at throttle body mounting area and intake manifold sealing surfaces


    ?€¢
    Throttle body for dirt, debris, and coking--Refer to Throttle Body Cleaning.

  3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature. Observe the MAP Sensor Voltage parameter with a scan tool. Voltage should be more than 0.8 volt and less than 4 volts.
  4. ?‡'
    If more than 4 volts or less than 0.8 volt, refer to DTC P0106.

  5. Idle the engine. Observe the MAP Sensor kPa parameter with a scan tool. Increase the engine speed slowly and then back to idle. The MAP sensor kPa should change smoothly and gradually as engine speed is increased and returned to idle.
  6. ?‡'
    If the MAP sensor kPa does not change, refer to DTC P0106.

  7. Take a snapshot of the engine data list while performing the actions listed below. The mass air flow (MAF) sensor g/s should change smoothly and gradually as the engine speed is increased and is returned to idle.

    Idle the engine.


    ?€¢
    Increase the engine speed slowly to 3,000 RPM, then back to idle.


    ?€¢
    Exit from the snapshot and review the data.


    ?€¢
    Observe the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor parameter frame by frame with a scan tool. The MAF sensor g/s should change smoothly and gradually as the engine speed is increased and is returned to idle.


    ?‡'
    If the MAF sensor g/s does not change smoothly and gradually as the engine speed is increased and is returned to idle, refer to DTC P0101 or P1101.

  9. Inspect the throttle body for the following conditions:

Loose or damaged throttle blade


?€¢
Broken throttle shaft

Any throttle body damage

If any of these conditions exist, replace the throttle body assembly.

Where is the 2005 Chevy trail blazer mass air flow sensor located

It is located in the air filter tube between the air filter box and the throttle body. Look for a 4 wire connector and that is it.

Take it to a qualified repair shop , Thinking ??? Also was thinking the MAF sensor or Intake Air sensor might be faulty . TESTING IS THE WAY TO A PROPER FIX !!!!!

tps is a throttle positioning sensor on the throttle body

maf is a mass air flow sensor which is mounted on the air intake to the air snorkle to the air filter tubing

Machine is throwing a MAF sensor i am told my doesnot have one, doing research on my own. the symptoms match a throttle position sensor.

the grand vitara maf sensor is usually located in the intake air duct, from air filter to throttle body. mounted on the intake manifold. some maf sensors are mounted directly to throttle body. symtoms of a bad tps are---it will cause tranny shift issues, bucking, jerking, idle surging, engine cut off, hesitation on take off, surge while cruising down highway. have a good day !!

Tps , the throtle position sensor is causing my check engine light to show up. I just want to know where the throtle postion sensor is located.

Mounted on the throttle body. Try cleaning it before replacing. Follow the hose from your air filter box to the intake, the sensor will be right in that area where the hose connects to the intake throttle body. It should have a harness plug.

How to replace engine air filter

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect inlet air temperature sensor electrical connector.
  3. Disconnect fresh air makeup hose from throttle body air inlet hose.
  4. Disconnect PCV hose from intake manifold.
  5. Loosen hose clamp at throttle body air inlet hose. Remove hose from throttle body
  6. Push in on locking tabs to disengage air inlet hose from air cleaner housing. Remove throttle body air inlet hose and air cleaner element together.
  7. Separate air cleaner element from throttle body air inlet hose.
