It will be the brake switch that the pedal operates. It may be that the same switch is used to de-activate the cruise control when on. And it's on the same circuit as the horn, so when you have no horn, you know you've got no brake lights. Go to you Dealer and get a new switch - they have been modified a long time ago.

What are the odds that the cruise control unit and the actuator unit would BOTH fail at the same time ?? 2002 Odyssey EX-L 172,000 with all maint from day one. Seems rather odd to me, but I'm NOT a...

Sounds like they are guessing and dont want to, or cant diagnose it properly. First make sure fuse is good (fuse 6) , make sure brake pedal switch is adjusted correctly. (if it thinks you are pushing the brakes, it wont cruise) check fuse 47 (if horn blows, fuse 47 is good) make sure cable is connected at throttle body. check these first, the rest gets complicated.

My 02' mdx won't come out of park, keep blowing a 20 amp fuse. This fuse controls the Cruise, break lights, memory seat, horn and linkage. I have to manually delink. I have unhooked the comand...

Here is an idea, when do you blow the fuse key on, key on engine running, key on engine running hitting the break pedal? Try and get the key on without blowing fuse if possible, then one at a time try those circuit loads ie: horn, brake pedal and so on, if you isolate which load is pulling to many amps(blowing fuse) unplug that load itself, then restart testing, see if fuse stays ok. You can also substitue the fuse with a circuit breaker and unplug each load until click(of breaker) stops.

My daughters 1998 honda accord ex keeps blowing fuses she is having to replace the brake light fuse after we replaced the brake light switch when she changed the fuse last the horn blew and she was shocked...

The horn and rear brake lights are on the same fuse. Eventually the horns rust out like on my 1998 CRV. Once I replaced the horns, I could put in a new fuse without it blowing every time I sounded the horn. Problems still remain, namely: the cruise control does not engage and the remote start only starts the engine that runs for two seconds then dies. Still looking for an answer. It's a "Code Alarm" with Codestart dated 11/24/99.

check under the dash st the brake pedal, there is a brake light switch which is tied into the cruise control, you could try unplugging that and see if it fixes the problem(remember you will have no brake lights while it's unhooked) if the problem is gone replace the switch.
