Any suggestions? Could be heater matrix, but maybe much simpler. Has anyone else had similar and how is it resolved?

The condensation on the windscreen suggests there is a leak inside the heater core enclosure. Since the heater hose is outside that enclosure, it is probably the heater core (matrix) itself. If so, you can bypass it by connecting the input and output hoses outside the enclosure to see if you are still loosing coolant. If you determine it's the heater core, replacement or removal and repair are the only options. Of course, you can leave it bypassed, but you'll have no heater function.

Is the carpet getting wet? Get a torch and look around the back of the engine, especially where the heater hoses go through the firewall. The condensation on the windscreen suggests there is a leak in the hose - could be either side of the firewall. .

SOURCE: after topping coolant levels up and driving for

It is surely a leak ,the coolant can go anywhere like apart from leaking, what is happening is when you are driving it leaks because there is more pressure in the radiator and it leaks somewhere ,why you don't see it,it is because the coolant is so hot and when the coolant when it leaks then hit the engine that is also hot, this make the leak coolant to evaporates very quickly that why you don't see it.Well what you have to do is top the coolant level, let someone start the engine you lift the bonnet standing in front of it,then tell the person inside the car to accelerate up 3000 rpm for near 10 minutes, then you watch carefully the radiator, hose and all the connection for the cooling system you will surely find the leaks where it comes from.Hope that clear your mind and solve it.

Dodge nitro leaking coolant slowly. Wil it last much longer

A lot depends on where the leak originated. If it's the water pump, it will only get worse, circulation will be impaired, engine can easily overheat...won't ;last long.
If it's an external leak, and you don't let the coolant get too low, it can go a l;ong time, with daily or regular topping up of the radiator.
If it's a blown head gasket and leaking internally, its days are definitely numbered. If its a head gasket and leaking externally, a little safer, but iffy: the head gasket may keep eroding and the leak get bigger. Overheating of the engine may occur.

Coolant leak 3.4 toyota

There is water from condensation from the a/c system that will drip onto your exhaust manifold when you turn the engine off after running the a/c for a while. Check coolant level daily when your engine is cold and if it isn't dropping then it is just the water from the cold a/c.

Hello, I am the owner of a 2005 jaguar x-type. Upon start up when driving away I notice a "gurgling" sound coming from the engine in the location of the glove box.

Sounds like air in cooling system. Coolant comes through to back of glove box area for your heat supply.
Have you noticed less available heat than normal?

Check the coolant level in radiator, not just the top up bottle. DO THIS WHEN ENGINE IS COLD as hot system is under pressure.

Possibility of head gasket leak suppling gases to coolant system. IF so may be producing some persistant heavy white steamy exhaust, though not necessarily.

Topping up coolant will (should) make noise go away at least temporarily. You should look to see if any obvious leaks or wet spots at hose clamps and heater hose connections.

When engine is cold, open Radiator cap, look down (flash light helps?) to see fluid level, should be full to top.
If not, top up with correct coolant mix, leaving cap off, start motor and allow to idle till warm. If level drops top off some more. Watch the fluid as it flows past cap opening. a few bubbles for a few mins may be normal, but continous stream of bubbles indicate head gasket leak. Turn on the heat in car to full, (not the fan, just heat level) gently rev the engine and top up fluid at same time, (2 people) replace cap. Done. If there are no apparent problems.

If noise returns or does not go away, you'll need a professional inspection.

Carpet is getting wet under driver's seat. Windscreen drain is fine as far i find. Not able to solve the problem. Please advice

hi. if your coolant is dropping down, there is a coolant leak on the heater matrix (little heater RADIATOR for heating the car and is usually under the dashboard). DO NOT LET THE COOLANT DROP DOWN AS THIS WILL BLOW THE (HEAD GASGET). please check the water (coolant) level daily, and try to fix this as soon as posible. gerry

My 2001 Ford Windstar van seems to be using alot of coolant daily

Possible coolant leak on hot engine parts causing it to evaporate as it leaks. That would definitely invade the cabin air. You would need to carefully check under the hood with the engine warmed up and running.

Also could be a headgasket failure between coolant channels and a combustion chamber. This latter problem sometimes shows itself as vapor at the tailpipe after there should be no more visible. You may also detect the odor of coolant there too.
