Engine light on 2001 Ford Windstar

I am worried I should of gotten a tune-up after 120000 miles but the last place I had it said everything was in good shape. Now the engine light stays on & O/D light flashes on & off after driving for 30 minutes or more. The last oil change the tech recommended synthentic oil but I was still on just high mileage and the engine sounds alot different Please help!

Often the first CE light comes on for oygen sensors.
You can have the CE light checked at any parts store like autozone for free (they have a basic scanner that will tell you what the light means and can sometimes steer you toward the correct replacement part and how to do it yourself, if it simple.
I also recommend a subscription to vehicle manuals and technical service bulletins for your vehicle at www.alldatadiy.com to be armed with info whenever you go to the dealer. I never go without researching first. They will certainly research at your expense!

You will need to get it Diag, at a dealer or known good repair shop, It can be both engine or transmission problem.....changing oil, fuel, installing additives wont fix it...so don't waste your money....

My ford 2001 winstar engine is misfiring what can I check, I cleaned the injectors changed plug and wires still the same problem

You don't clean injectors by adding 10 oz
of anything, to 18 gallons of gas

The plugs while good to change at
70,000 miles ,won't be your problem

Wires should last the life of the car

Check, not change the ignition module .

I believe you have a Mazda

Air conditioning/Check Engine light in 2001 Ford Windstar

A vacuum leak is a normal thing to run across on a windstar the plenum (upper intake ) gaskets are rubber and usually end up having to be replaced. A good indicator is usually missing on one cylinder and a tune up has been done and the coil works fine. You may run around town and find a parts store that will scan your check engine light for free and look for a p0301-06 code, a p0300 is a random miss. First things first scan for you code.

My Windstar 2001 has the P301 code and is sputtering despite a very recent tune-up (everything was changed from the spark-plug to the coil). The trouble was there before the tune-up and is still there...

Your MAF mass air flow sensor is faulty. You can clean them sometimes with carb cleaner an it will work for awhile but it needs replacing. It's telling the computer the wrong information about how much air is going to the engine.

I have a dashboard light on in my 2001 Ford Windstar. It looks like a lightbult with an exclamation point in it. Now sure what it is. It also at times feels like i am driving on those rumble strips. If I...

Well dont go south on the windstars..you just got one that perhaps wasnt well taken care of.

The indicator I believe tells you you have a burnt out bulb in your sytems somewhere?

The rough driving.....could be a number of things.....could need tune up, could be a bad or lose exhaust...could be bad motor mounts?

Have to have that one looked at a bit more in depth.

How many more years can I get out of this car

If you keep it serviced and drive with care, then you could get another 100,000 miles out of it. But don't take my word as gospel as engines are fickle and can just die for no reason. Nissans are very reliable by reputation so keep a regular service and it could last a long time.

2001 Ford Windstar runs rough.

remove the coil pack and look at bottom of it if it shows any cracks coil is bad very common on these vans if you have a noid light check for injector pulse on #4 if you have pulse and good blue spark most likely the injector is bad you have to remove upper plenum to get injectors out let me know how you make out
